    DELL Warranties?

Does anyone know if DELL is still requiring transfer of ownership for them to service a laptop from a new owner?
  2. Hi all, just noticed that my 5680 battery is draining despite being plugged in. It was down to 30% power before I realized it. I rebooted and it started charging again. Ever heard of this? I was just surfing the web and watching a YT video, nothing heavy.
  3. That's kind of what I figured--just replace the whole assembly. Appreciate it. Not that a touch will make it any better, but this thing has the worst screen tearing I have ever seen on a computer. Even watching YT videos is bad. I enabled "Smooth V-Sync" and it's better, but weird that I should have to enable that at all.
  4. Found a great deal on a Precision Mobile 5680 but it has a non touch screen. Could I purchase a touch version panel (or whole assembly) off of, say, eBay and just swap the panels out and have a working touch screen, assuming all other aspects of the panel remained the same?
  5. Confirmed, DELL replaced the panel yesterday and it's fixed.
  6. Hi all, happy Sunday. About a week ago I noticed that my taskbar (I have it at the top) was reflecting at the bottom of my screen and no amount of messing with system settings gets rid of it. It does this for open system dialogs, windows, apps, everything. After messing around for a while I figured it just needs it be rebooted, then I noticed that even the DELL boot logo and my BIOS password screen are doing it, so well before gfx drivers are loading... anyone even see this before?
  7. I see no switch to disable hybrid graphics (use only the discrete RTX card) in the BIOS. I have the advanced BIOS settings enabled as well. Am I missing something?
  8. Found a good deal on a 7780 with everything I want except the GPU. It has a 2000 Ada - was wondering if its possible to buy a 5000 Ada and swap it in... I see there a few for sale on ebay et al, but was wondering if the BIOS would accept it. Thoughts?
  9. Thanks, I just returned it, the benchmarks on those is just way to low for the price.
  10. Need to image my current boot 1TB SSD so I can swap it out with a 4TB Samsung. I am assuming I can image the boot drive and then apply that image to a new drive but keeping the new drives physical size... any thoughts on which app is best for this?
  11. Anyone know if the 285H will be a decent enough improvement over the 185H to justify waiting for it? Any other improvements in the chassis or ports between the gens?
  12. CAMM2 is less expensive I am seeing, but still 2x what sodimms are. https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr5/ct64g75c2lp5xg I went to look at getting an outlet 7780 but they are using CAMM only, so yeah, 2k for 64 GB. WTF was DELL thinking.
  13. Let me expand on this. I want to do a full restore of my laptop back to factory. DELL is saying they don't sell/have anything that can do this, so I am left with this: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000125230/how-to-create-and-use-the-dell-recovery-restore-usb-drive which apparently just makes a recovery point from your existing install (so it has to be in perfect working order, which mine is not) or a basic Windows recovery download/install with no DELL drivers.
