  1. Thank you! I've also considered smaller laptops, because I'm not getting any younger. I really like the new Thinkpad P16 gen3 and I was also oggling the Framework16, because they finally have an NVIDIA option. The last one I really like is HP G1a Ultra, but I'm afraid if my software would play nice with that Radeon card. Certainly, CUDA based features wouldn't work..
  2. I own a Precision 7750 (i7-10875H, 128GB RAM, RTX4000) for almost 5 years now, but unfortunatley it starts to show it's age. The performance is not perfect, and today I;ve noticed that my RTX4000 is gone. I think about replacement for quite some time. My requirements: It's my daily driver for most of my heavy lifting in my mechanical engineering studies, and running my engineering business. Software that it will run (but not limited to): Fusion360, Siemens NX, Artec Studio, Calibry Nest, Ansys, Matlab. I easily use more than 64GB of RAM and sometimes I even need more than 128GB, so the 128GB is a bare minimum. Nvidia GPU with at the very least 8GB of VRAM is needed - 3D scanning software needs it to work. IT NEEDS TO BE ROCK SOLID. I use it LITERALLY in the field (quarries, mines, workshops). 16-18" screen. OLED would be nice, but I'm ok with a very good LCD. I don't need touch, but I'd love to have Windows Hello. 128GB RAM or more (buying the lowest possible config and replacing RAM by myself is storngly preferred) Replaceable SSD's (at the very least two bays). It would be nice if it would be made from good materials and looked nice (no RGB nonsense). It must be presentable because I visit customers. Good warranty (accidental damage protection) 36-60 months - is preferrable. PRICE. Unfortunately my budget is not made from rubber ripped from old underwear, so the cheaper- the better. I was thinking about Framework 16, Dell Pro Max PLus 16 and 18, but my desired config in 18" costs over 8k EUR.
  3. Another question: My Quadro RTX4000 is gone from my system. Pre-boot check doesn;t show it and I have a strong suspicion, that my recent power problems (my almost new battery is draind from 100% to dead in about 15 minutes) are caused by this defective GPU. Do you think replacing it will help? Is it worth 200EUR investment in 5 year old platform?
  4. Quick question: I'm currently using stock AX201 WiFi card in my 7750. Are there any upgrade options available? Would love to have Wifi 7 if at all possible.
  5. I can't see why not? My Precision 7750 came with 8GB RAM. I've first bought 4x32GB of Corsair but it didn't like them. I've returned it and went for Crucials. It runs like that without a hitch for 4 years now and I've saved over 1k EUR. From now on, all of my RAM will by Crucial. I'm building a desktop (my first for almost 10years, not counting thexones I've built for my customers) and it will have 4x64GB of Crucial Pro.
  6. On CAMM2 module pricing: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/ram/crucial-is-selling-64gb-lpcamm2-micron-memory-modules-for-dollar330 https://liliputing.com/camm2-standard-approved-for-up-to-128gb-of-speedy-removable-memory-modules/ So we have a price range. I'm certainly planning on getting the smallest possible RAM from Dell and then buying modules on my own to max it out. I did it with 7750, and it saved me over 1k EUR.
  7. My 7750 is getting really old. Still going strong though (Dell had replaced 90% of the unit at the end of the warranty period. I love it). I'd love me a 18" battlestation. And more than my current 128GB of RAM would also be lovely! CAMM2 is looking to me more like a SCAMM ME 2. But I digress. My new powerbank can output up to 250W through 2 USB-C's. Would be really nice to be able to finally drop the 600g brick of a PSU, and carry only one (I now carry 120W USB-C, 240W Alienware Gan PSU and the monster Anler A1340, and I'm not getting any younger. The price could be an issue too, because l don't have any corporate overlords to pay for mine.
