  1. Regarding 5090, still have some telegram bots reporting new drops and prices, yesterday was a founders 5090 drop from nvidia directly on their website for 2099 Euro. Got the notification and went on the site. Got one in the  shopping cart but after like 5 minutes of thinking if I need it,  I decided to close the website. Every game I play like battlefield 6 or stalker 2 works perfectly on the 4090. So it just a waste of money for me. Also went to the website like almost  40 min later and they were still available,  tried to put one again in the cart and it went through, I was against one click to order it and closed again. So it looks like the market is saturated a little.

Also got this baby to play with. Nice looking card😃. An oldie but still packing a punch with those 32GB HBM2 memory for larger AI models. Will try some qwen  2.5 and Llama bigger ones on it

duuuude 😄 but WAIT, no 9995WX? peasant! 🤣

what are ur plans for this beastly setup? post some pics of the hardware and internals 🙂

Hahaha,  the   PRO 7995wx is good even Overkill for what is needed it but it was an offer i cannot refuse😆😆.

Was in holiday and didnt have time for it.

Still need to optimize and rearange Cables inside, got a 9100 Pro2 TB for that Pcie gen 5. Need more ram and also gpus. Ignore the gtx1050 , it's only for tests. I will need to get an riser 90 degree to fit the gpu inside.

But I love the mainboard,  Asrock wrx90 ws evo,  went with it because the other wrx90 is from Asus and I despise them. More expensive as the asrock and full of problems .Reddit and forums are full of them. STUPID Asus wants over 1k euro for that mainboard and still cannot make it work.

The Asrock is incredible, so many options, bulid like a tank, a lot of connectivity,  bmc remote management is superb. And it booted and did the whole diagnostic and memory training in under 3 minutes. That's good for a complicated platform like the threadripper.I love it.

Use case it will be my homelab brain. Will run a gazillion VMs because Cores are plenty and  I will also start Local AI training. Still need to decide on gpus..maybe I will get some Rtx A series ore Rtx Ada for it.

  3. First try, its a beast. 😆Cooling it with  Alphacool Eisblock XPX Pro 1U in a 2U rack chassis, its loud as hell but it will be part of my homelab rack in the basement. Probably will move it in a 4U chassis like the Alphacool ES 4U ServerRack where i can use bigger fans and will be quieter :). Doing around 130 W on win idle, need to check in Zorin OS linux aswell. But didn exceed 65 celsius in cinebench.  Paired with only 64gb 5600mhz  DDR ECC Ram.. will buy some more but ECC ram is expensive as hell right now.

    Need more cores? 🙂

Thx, lots of work related stuff and busy with the kids and wife..also got fed up with the industry. Nothing exciting anymore. Doing more WM stuff on old hardware like Proxmox, learning more kubernets and stuff😀.

    @electrosoft @jaybee83

Hahaha, nope. But it was a funny coincidence I saw on the last pages that you guys were talking about the 6000 pro and today at the office comes a guy from the research department and gives us a 6000 pro in the hand. When we have time to find a machine in our racks that can accommodate  the beast so they can test it🤣. It was free  from nvidia, our firm has a collaboration with all the big players  and we get from time to time stuff to test...funny thing is they don't want them back so after they lay in the firm, forgotten. But it's a heavy one. But also only one crappy small 12hpwr on it...

I haven't bought anything from this new stuff that is on the market..in my eyes is only expensive shit..nothing worthwhile..I will not pay their prices. I'll wait for next generation or buy a 5090 when it's under the msrp price 😃. The same with the expansive amd and intel 💩

I just noticed Fallout 76 is now on Xbox Gamepass. I signed up for a year on Steam for $100 = ~8.50/mo but you can transfer over your character and items to Gamepass now from Steam (not achievements). If they add World of Warcraft (they already have Diablo IV now), I'd switch in a heartbeat and save ~$6/mo AND have access to the rest of their library.

F76 on Gamepass is a buggy mess, I originally had it there and played but because of the bugs I bought it again on steam and also lost a month of 1st because you cannot transfer it to steam. On of the stupid bugs is related to the installation folder. If you install it in a new location, partition and not the default gamepass one when a new update comes it will not find the path and also it will just delete the whole game, you will need to install it again and again..it will just delete the whole game folder 🤣🤣. And there were more bugs. Stay away from it. Microsoft/Bethesda knows about it but they don't care..

You are better trying to push 6200/6400 with matching infinity fabric clocks (2066/2133) though IIRC?

Yes that's the plan in the long run, but didnt had any time to optimize the timings and do some oc. Got the dimms only yesterday,  only had time to install them and see if they work on my platform.

@Mr. Fox they are 5600 on default. This is the kit that I got. I am also on an older agesa and bios.

    V1E agesa 1.1.7.0

I am trying to get the memory overclock figured out. The motherboard will not boot with 24GB sticks and doing more research it seems there are very few 48GB memory kits that are compatible with Ryzen. The MSI QVC shows modules tested as compatible that I cannot find for sale. So, right now I am using an old G.SKILL XMP 7200 32GB kit with no Expo profile. The XMP will not boot, but using the MSI 7200 profile it does. This is going to take me a while to figure out. I may end up having to purchase a newer/compatible memory kit later on.

Interesting and also  strange,i thought the ram compatibility  will be better on the x870 as the first gen. I have no problem on my MSI B650 with a new kit of 2x24 Gskill 7600 that i got it cheap on ebay.  its not even in the msi qvl list of the board but is working with expo 1 like a champ. Even my boot time got better with it as it was with the old 2x16 GB Kingston Fury 6000 cl32

It looks like it is easily doing 45K in Cinebench R23 with no CPU overclock, just PBO enabled.

FYI - on the X870E Carbon I can use the PCIe 5.0 slot above the CPU and the GPU works at x16, but if I populate that and the first (PCIe 5.0) M.2 slot under the GPU with any kind of NVMe the GPU drops to x8. So, same as the Encore, I have one M.2 slot that is unusable unless I want to castrate the GPU.

Yes this a stupid decision from AMD and almost all board partners to cut pcie lanes for that USB 4  that no ones uses it..

I checked and ASRock is the only one that offers full pcie lanes,  at resonable price!. MSI does have it on the godlike..

It looks like the ASRock 870e Nova is the best board right now. cheap, full pcie lanes, you can drive 5 nvme and still maintain x16 on the GPU and build like a tank.

Sadly, it is only 8 cores. Makes is a gamer-only solution. Good if gaming trumps everything, but not good otherwise.

Lets hope the 16 core will follow its success.

Is there a pretty big performance penalty to use the drives in a pcie slot with an adapter instead?

Hmm..that i still need to look it up 😄

  10. Sadly that depends from board to board. The Gigabyte x870e Aours Pro Ice, which i wanted beacuse of the white color has 4 slots but.

1x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX16), integrated in the CPU:
AMD Ryzen™ 9000/7000 Series Processors support PCIe 5.0 x16 mode
    * The M2B_CPU and M2C_CPU connectors share bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When theM2B_CPU orM2C_CPU connector is populated, the PCIEX16 slot operates at up to x8 mode.

so it looks if u have one drive in any of those other 2 slots (M2B and and M2C) the pciex 16 gpu slot will operate at x8 only..

  11. I was also looking for a x870e board but man almost all of them have that stupid pcie lane splitting bullshit, if i plan to use 3 ssds the gpu pcie x16 will get only 8x. Looks like only the asrock taichi and nova dont have it. And the stupid  +1000 $ Mb aswell. But the taichi is matx and doesnt fit in my case like i want and also i have a white build and  both gigabyte white mainboards and also the white strix are dumbed down pcie bifurcation stupidity.
