    Hi, Yes, I tried. I removed system battery, removed CMOS battery, pressed power button 30 sec and shorted + - CMOS battery for discharge capacitor. After this I had 5 beeps but after restart still the same. I removed all drive and did the same - without result. I tried with another HD / SD without result. M17X not post to the BIOS.

    Hi. No. Only keyboard blink, fan start, alien logo fast blinking and power off, after next 1 sec. the same till I disconnect battery.

    I have problem with M17X R4, I installed unlocked BIOS without problem but I changed from Legacy to UEFI and... M17X now only power on and power off, power on and power off, power on and power off, power on and power off........... After removed CMOS battery I have 5 beeps but after restarted still power on and power off, power on and power off, power on and power off, power on and power off.... legacy to uefi It looks like "BIOS will not allow POST to complete without TPM handshake with original TPM Windows 10 or TPM Windows 11 (C:) boot disk" and "If your motherboard's security feature refuses to be unlocked or has been corrupted, a new motherboard is your only option." Maybe another solution ??

    Liquid metal works with RTX 3000. "Shadow of the Tomb Rider" with all setings at Ultra gives me over 40fps with GPU temp about 60-70 C I have problem with M17X R4, I installed unlocked BIOS without problem but I changed from Legacy to UEFI and...     Round 3: I modified nv_dispwi.inf for my RTX 3000 and installed with "Disabled driver signature enforcement"... with fully succes ! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    Round 2: I tried to install RTX Driver but " device is not present " Second try and this time I copied Nvidia Driver to another location. From directory with drivers I manualy installed nv_dispwi.inf. In Device Meneger I "update driver" and chose GRAPHIC DRIVER / NVIDIA / QUADRO RTX3000 ( was present after installed nv_dispwi.inf ) and.... my new Quadra RTX3000 is on my system 🙂 I copied BIOS here if you want to compare. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/268486/268486

    Hi, I pick up my RTX. Round 1: Installed after start GPU is visible in BIOS but windows device meneger show me video controller 3w what now ?? i don't have any information about this device, only code 28 and can't edit driver.

    It's good news for me 🙂 In BIOS Advenced / SATA Operation should be RAID: and on second Andvenced / IDE Configuration but if you looking for this : it is visible only with Load Legacy Option Rom - Enabled

    I will be at home in Friday and in weekend try mine RTX. Do you checked SG mode before remove 680 ?? which unlocked BIOS version is in your Alienware ?? I had A14 but downgraded to A11 and after it instaled unlocked A11 EDIT: I wait for RTX with BIOS setup: On Advenced / Video Configuration I chenged to the SG mode On Boot I disabled LEGACY BOOT On Main page I have visible both GPU - Intel Ivy Bridge and ATI GFX ( the same on Device Meneger in win 11 ) I hope that I choose correct setup 🙂

    Do you changed in Advenced GPU settings to Optimus mode?? You should change to SG mode.

    This drop from third photo was aplied on both side - CPU and radiator and some part from it stayed on plastic aplicator. It is like it should be. I can show you foto after removed radiator, before I put new layer.

    Here is my tracking 🙂 : and still wait for it. Smarter than me said that you need SG mode but for SG mode you need unlocked BIOS.

    I burned GTX680 and had 8 beeps, when I removed GTX680 I still had 8 beeps. I need at first put HD7970 to run my m18x r2. If your Alienware not recognize RTX3000 ( to recognize you need unlocked BIOS and optimus mode - SG on advenced GPU setings ) you still have beeeeeeeeeeps. In my opinion if you not unlocked BIOS before you removed 680 you should change GPU to IGFX before removed GPU and can start with integrated GPU to unlock BIOS. Probably you will have 8 beep. EDIT: I bought the same RTX on ebay and wait 2 weeks, still is on the way. You have atime to assembly m18x one more time 🙂

    It should be driven by GPU temp but you can disconnect second fan plug for sure. If you don't have plastic adapter in place of GPU 2 better to leave fan to prevent leakage of air flow - but it is only my opinion 🙂

    Yes, Thermal Grizzly with TG Shield - red varnish for protection against short circuits for CPU and GPU pins and smd elements ( but I used Conductonaut few times and always stay in place ).

    I cheched 3DMark FireStrike and had about 72C temp on CPU overclocked to 4,5Ghz ( 5192 on HD7970M 🙂 ). I can use laptop on my legs. My Alienware 14 goes much higher with temps. I think that it is good result compared to this:

I found some test with photo of BIOS Level 1, 2 ,3 and description : "OVERCLOCKING: Normally I wouldn't write about this in a notebook review, but the M18x deserves special mention given it's key overclocking ability.     Standard Level 3 has 25, I put 40 and half night played "Shadow of the Tomb Rider" and "Expeditions A MudRunner Game" at 4.5 Ghz to check stability. Everything was good and stable. I try to go higher in weekend but with 4,5 Ghz I have about 30 % better benchmark result than on standard. If it is stable is enought for me. I read somewhere that Alienware sold factory overclocked m18x r2. Do you know factory OC BIOS parameters ?? EDIT: wiki says: M18x-R2 (discontinued) – 2012 revision of the M18x; originally shipped with Intel Sandy Bridge processors, later shipped with updated with Intel Ivy Bridge processors, single or dual Nvidia GeForce 600 series GPU(s), single or dual AMD Radeon HD 7970M Radeon HD 7000 series GPU(s), up to 32 GB of DDR3-1600 MHz, and optional factory overclock.

    You don't need to afraid about radiator. I used liquid metal on other systems and copper radiator is still in good condition. Look at this: I done the same like on this video in 16:45 - after one month clean everything and put ne layer of liquid metal. The same liquid metal I will use on RTX3000. Thank you, I will try it. System works stable with ratio 45 but at 46 and higher is windows blue screen on start.

    Hi, RTX arrived to Poland but stuck somewhere. I decided to replaced proccesor. Now need help with OC.

    Before I replaced CPU I check temps in CPU-Z and Speccy. Old 3740QM with thermal paste and one pipe heatsink had about 85C in stress test. 3940XM on the same CPU-Z stress test had about 73C I chenged BIOS OC options to Level 3 and started again, started stress this time CPU has about 81C I want more !!! I changed Level 3 option : 1 -Core Ratio Limit from 44 to 45 2 -Core Ratio Limit from 42 to 44 3 -Core Ratio Limit from 41 to 43 4 -Core Ratio Limit from 40 to 42 started system and pushed stress test. Fan goes with higher RPM ( but still can goes higher ) and temps are about 80C. System is stable. Temps are stable. Can I go higher with clock ?? If yes, please tell me what else I should change in BIOS. EDIT: I rise ratio to 45. System works stable with 87 C. ... what now to go higher ??
