On the meantime working on P775 for my kids i found X170 on ebay and maybe that work wake up my sentiment to those machines and the reason is those are latest with physical LGA... yes i bought it ... 1.3K€ XMG brand with i9-10850K and ofc 3080 also Chipset Z590.
Currently i started reading this topic in free time which is not much maybe somebody gonna answer me some questions.
I think is not worthy going 11th gen but is the 10th gen worth delid?If IHS change which one Aliexpress or some brandet one's? Maybe is there's any working with KryoSheet?
On top gonna use HoneyWell because of low maintenance needed in future but if the liquid metal gonna make huge huge difference... maybe?
I working on P775 project wit i9 9900K and 3080 where i decide after some vid is not worh to do it... probably still gonna try it maybe but with direct die but that's another topic backing to the right one.
I have some rams mostly corsair 32gb bones but i start thinking to go 16gb because is really hard to find 32gb CL16 on good price... for 16gb cl14 is the lowest?
Im looking to not OC it, just system boost... i more likely looking for STABLE and COOL using it. Also going to build AIO station for P775's with china air/water cooler so in the future X170 going also gonna get WC.
BTW:
Anyone from EU (maybe even DE) want to change my 4K panel for FHD 300Hz?
The same with the keyboard my DE for US?

Wow. i was wondering to get MXM 4070 from alibaba and make it fit to clevo maybe later change die to 4080 or even more if they gonna go cheaper nice idea to that direct power definetly gonna hel since MXM 40 have no power connector. RTX 40

Unfortunately currently i do not have any programmer still don't know which i should buy. Is there the way to flash it in some dos tool? Sorry for the newbe question 😄 BTW what EC you running? You using single or two 330 PSU?

I sold my P870 many years ago but i was thinking to buy it again. Unfortunately currently there is no option to buy air water cooler from china manufacturer brake up the casting mold form and they not planing to make new one bocuse of low intrest from buyers. :< i was thinking to make one 3080 mxm and the second port use with mxm to pcie adapter with some 50 series. Is it possibe to have one card on MXM and using secon on the adapter? I mean there gonna be drivers issue but if i will carry secondary system to boot with mxm turned off in devices... and than using pcie adapter card that would be grat.

still not tested but first fitment shows a option to do direct die, only two capacitors stay on the way to do it. Need to find my broken 1070 to check fitment with gpu. One came bendet a bit... just find out... third i'm gonna left for video unpacking. Contact places are no polished but i don't feel any grain.

Todays plans are to modify the current limit through PR27 which sets the OCP (144A on the DM3, 180A on the tm1g despite the same VRM configuration) changing from 30k - 38.3k
Next is changing the Imax configuration resistor, this tells the CPU how much current it can use before throttling and is the reason your CPU will throttle underload despite temperature etc unless you use throttlestop / Dsanke bios / XTU to ignore the limit. Changing PR190 from 95.3k (120A) to 110k (138A) should improve things.
While the laptop is in pieces I am also converting to the modified A51M fans from Taobao, they require a PWM signal and unfortunately I did not buy the converter offered by the seller at the time so I must make my own, I am bypassing the onboard NCT3941S linear DC fan controller which takes a simple 0-3v input signal from the EC and outputs x4 the voltage to the normal fans, unfortunately the EC is not using PWM in this case which would have made my job easier! I will be using some small MCU to convert the 3v to a PWM signal to send to the fans.
For now all I will be doing is attaching a breakout cable so I can tinker more with the fans externally without needing to run jumper wires to the board.

Which BIOS and which mods you will recommend to most stable work with i9 9900K and 3080? i have two Z370 and one Z170 still didn't start work on waiting to ali water/air cooler to arrived. You know maybe is there any diffrence between z170 and z370 maybe this weekend gonna compare the chassis to possible upgrade that z170 if newer chipset provide more stable work on that i9

My kid grow up and finaly asked me for PC after some years of playing on xbox.
I have Three P775 two z370 and one z170 luckly i bought two rtx 3080 while my friend was on short trip in the US.
And yup, i9 9900k are also here.
Also ordered air/water coolers from ali now i thinking on TaoBao was probably cheaper... nevermind seller gifted me third fittings for free... quite exppensive btw. Those laptops came later with RTX 20 series so they made special cooler for it? Because seller on ali said those new coolers can be also used with GTX 10 series what make me confused... we all know 9th series i9 are pretty hot anybody tried direct die in those laptops? Are any major differences between z170 and z370 motherboards? yet didn't compare those boards because i need to leave z170 for my wife to use... Buuut if they are more stable on i9 it's worth to upgrade? Maybe im gonna be able to compare these two because you mentioned guys there is some chassis difference? (maybe today...)
Just to be sure im still after BIOS update to use 9th series the latest EC i found is 1.07.16? And latest BIOS is 1.07.29 right?
To use 3080 i need to change subsystem ID to a X170 one RTX BIOS don't need changes?

If you from EU and if you cover shipping i can borrow you WC from ali to P775 😄 because in bought 3 and third laptop im gonna mode after motherboard upgrade probably. (Z170 to z370)
