  1. Hey thanks so much for the detailed answer! I'm sorry to get to you this late, but I finally got back access to this account. Thanks again for your answer
  2. Sorry, by flashing the motherboard with the modified bios, you mean doing the SG mod again? (Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by flashing)
  3. Good evening everyone, So I want to change the motherboard of my Alienware 18 (the CN-04703X motherboard) for a new one because I'm a bit afraid that the old one won't last too much. The thing is, I managed to change the BIOS display setting to SG mode (I modified the BIOS because I'm going to install a GTX1070 in the future). So when I get the motherboard and change it, will the SG setting stay as is? or will I loose my modification or cause further problems? (Or should I change to default display setting, swap the motherboard and then I can swap it to SG back again?) Please help and thanks, I just want to make sure I don't cause display issues, its an expensive laptop.
  4. By the way, the website even has a RTX4090MXM!
  5. Just some questions regarding upgrading my Alienware 18 https://www.x-vsion.com/product-category/mxms/ Is this website legit? If so, buying an RTX 3080 MXM, wouldn't it be to too much power for the motherboard, eventually damaging it? I just found this website and wanted to know since now I'm thinking to buy an RTX card instead of the GTX1070 Also, for an RTX3080 MXM, the installation process is same as installing a GTX1070 MXM into an Alienware 18 right? Finally, is the bottleneck going to be too severe? (I have an i7 4940MX) Many thanks for help!
  6. Hi everyone, I have an Alienware 18 I just wanted to know if its okay for a GTX980M to not have any thermal pads, just the thermal paste on the main chip.
  7. but by the way, if I do everything right, shouldn't the 18 and the 1070 last forever? (Keeping replacing thermal paste and pads when required)
  8. Hi everyone, I plan to buy the GTX1070 in the picture for my Alienware 18. Just some questions, thanks! 1. Will the laptop motherboard have enough power for the 1070? I plan to install it and use it forever 2. The steps are like this, correct?, -Unlock bios for SG mode -Switch to SG mode, -Install the GTX1070 -Install modded driver and then I'm done, correct? 3. Do I need an AMD100W heatsink ? 4. Do I need thermal pads as well? 5. Will the GTX1070 last after doing everything properly? Thanks for help!
