There is this other temperature in my HWINFO named "Hot Spot", I wanted to know if that one is the temperature of the hottest chip of my GTX980M right? Either RAM, VRAM or VRM right? If so, I guess I put the thermal pads correctly because my Hot Spot has good temps? Thx

Ok,I understand, yes I bought the modded heatsink from him, its also the 18 inch Aleinware 18

My GTX1070 MXM is a bit bent, will it cause issues? I just want to make sure the thermal pads are making proper contact with the heatsink

Putting thermal pads on top of each other

Okay,, thanks for answer! -
Hi everyone, just wanted to know if its a good idea to put a 1.5mm thermal pad on top of a 2.5mm for these chips I highlighted (GTX1070MXM), (Im using a customized heatsink, so I just wanted to know if will putting those thermal pads on top of each other will keep the chips cool enough)

Ok, thanks

Ok, so it won't overheat right?

Hi everyone, I bought a GTX980M, as this one in the picture, however, should I take out the black part that is around the main chip?(The one I highlighted in red) Or should I leave it there? I just want to make sure the gpu gets cooled properly

Hi, since I have an older Alienware 18 I wanted to sell, I just wanted to make sure that the heatsink works properly, as you can see the heatsink does't cover the entire chip I highlighted in the picture, it that okay? The chip should be still cooled off properly right? (I will put thermal pads on all the chips of the GPU) Thanks

Motherboard Replacement Steps

Okay thanks again! -
Hi everyone, I finally purchased my new motherboard for my Alienware 18, and want to replace it... Do I have to do anything software-related, or bios changes before or after the swap? I also bought a new CMOS battery, all it takes is to replace it physically or I must do something on the bios also? Thanks for help

Motherboard Replacement Question
Sebastian Ramirez replied to Sebastian Ramirez's topic in Alienware 18 and M18x
Sorry, by flashing the motherboard with the modified bios, you mean doing the SG mod again? (Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by flashing)- 9 replies

Good evening everyone, So I want to change the motherboard of my Alienware 18 (the CN-04703X motherboard) for a new one because I'm a bit afraid that the old one won't last too much. The thing is, I managed to change the BIOS display setting to SG mode (I modified the BIOS because I'm going to install a GTX1070 in the future). So when I get the motherboard and change it, will the SG setting stay as is? or will I loose my modification or cause further problems? (Or should I change to default display setting, swap the motherboard and then I can swap it to SG back again?) Please help and thanks, I just want to make sure I don't cause display issues, its an expensive laptop.

RTX 40 Series in Alienware 18 (P19E)

By the way, the website even has a RTX4090MXM! -
Just some questions regarding upgrading my Alienware 18 https://www.x-vsion.com/product-category/mxms/ Is this website legit? If so, buying an RTX 3080 MXM, wouldn't it be to too much power for the motherboard, eventually damaging it? I just found this website and wanted to know since now I'm thinking to buy an RTX card instead of the GTX1070 Also, for an RTX3080 MXM, the installation process is same as installing a GTX1070 MXM into an Alienware 18 right? Finally, is the bottleneck going to be too severe? (I have an i7 4940MX) Many thanks for help!
