hi. everyone
I have 3 m6800s
One is used in the work place, one is used at home, and one is kept as a spare in case of a breakdown.
It's been a long time since I bought all three.
I didn't buy it new, I bought it one by one about 5-6 years ago.
It was sturdy, expandable, and the performance was not lacking in the range I used it.
This year, instead of buying a new laptop, I decided to upgrade further.
The one with the best performance among the three is the 4910mq k5100m with 32GB memory.
The rest of the devices have the same CPU of 4910mq.
I confirmed that only the GPU is K4100m.
Old materials scattered around the internet, including Reddit and here.
After searching through various forums, I have selected a few upgrade items.
I ordered a GTX 980M from AliExpress.
They're almost identical products, but there's a slight price difference between the M5000M and the 980M.
Reading the posts here has made me more interested in the P5000M, but I'm still hesitant because
the price is still very high.
I was thinking of putting a 980M in one unit and an M5000M in the other,
but I haven't decided on a CPU.
I'm concerned about overheating because the 4930 or 4940MX have higher TDP.
The 4980HQ PGA offers good performance, but it's not manufacturer-level quality,
so there seem to be quite a few cases of CPU failures.
I'm also concerned that the maximum memory is limited to 16GB.
I'm wondering if it will work properly if I add 1866MHz memory to the M6800.
Even if filled with 1866 memory, will the actual operating speed be 1600?
The text is long, but I'm curious about the opinions of those with experience.
thank you
