  1. What advice do you have for these settings? I've tried every possible combination and run PassMark + HwInfo benchmarks with every possible combination. - N.1 (Any setting does not affect temperatures and performance) Intel Software Guard Extension (SGX) Intel SGX Enable Disabled Enabled Software Controlled (default) Enclave Memory Size (non modificabile in Software Controlled) 32MB 64MB 128MB (default) - N.2 (enabled: 14.000 Passmark points but Thermal Throttling, disabled 9.000 Passmark points without Thermal Throttling) Intel SpeedStep Disabled Enabled - N.3 (enabled slightly worsens performance, disabled slightly better performance) C-States Control Disabled Enabled - N.4 (enabled: 14.000 Passmark points but Thermal Throttling, disabled 9.000 Passmark points without Thermal Throttling) Enable Intel Speed Shift Technology * Disabled Enabled - N.5 (Optimized and Ultra Performance, with SpeedStep or/and SpeedShift and no C-State about 14.000 PassMark point with Thermal Throttling, Cool or Quiet drastically reduce performance with any other settings active) Thermal Management Optimized (default) Cool Quiet Ultra Performance I noticed that SpeedStep and SpeedShift either if you activate only one of them, or if you activate both together, I always get about 14,000 PassMark points and I reach about 4.4GHz maximum, so it makes no difference if you enable only one or both. MY CHOICE: Intel SGX Enable Software Controlled (default) Enclave Memory Size 128MB (default) Intel SpeedStep Enabled C-States Control Disabled Enable Intel Speed Shift Technology Enabled Thermal Management Optimized or Ultra Performance (no big differences) I installed W11 Pro for Workstation, but maybe I did something wrong, because it is not possible to activate additional power plans such as Ultimate Performance (powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61). CMD Admin with the command is recognized correctly but the power plans are not enabled in the control panel. While when I installed W11 Pro on any other computer (even 7710, 7720, 7730) the Ultra Performance command enabled the new plan in the control panel. Note: I previously had a DELL 7730 with an i9-8950HK, and it too was constantly hovering above 90°C, even when idling. I had thoroughly cleaned the heat sinks and fans, and replaced the thermal paste with Artic MX-4 (new product, optimally applied under the film—not too little, not too much), but the temperatures remained more or less the same.
  2. @JamieTheAnything As soon as I have time, I'll certainly replace the factory thermal paste on the CPU and GPU with the Artic MX-4 I already have, and I'll also give the heat sinks/fans a thorough cleaning. However, with this type of CPU, I doubt temperatures will drop much. At most, they might drop by 10°C, but that'll still be a small difference. I think good temperatures are 50°C at IDLE and 80°C at FULL LOAD (with SpeedStep, SpeedShift, and TurboBoost enabled, so above 4.4GHz), but that probably won't happen with the i7 10850H.
  3. Thanks;
  4. Hi everyone. I've read the topic, but I still need some advice. I have a DELL PRECISION 7750, and unfortunately, as is well known, it has inherent thermal issues. Even when just turned on at idle, it easily reaches 100°C. The heat sinks, fans, and thermal paste are in the same factory condition (as in fact, the 7750's CPU reached 100°C even when new). I could certainly install the best thermal compound available, but what would change? 5°C, maximum 10°C, and that would be insufficient, because it would still thermal throttle. In the BIOS/UEFI, no matter what option I change (SGX, SpeedSpep, C-State, Speed Shift or Thermal Management), I get no resolutions, but only unacceptable compromises. For example, with Thermal Management in Cool, the frequencies are limited to around 3GHz in multicore, so it doesn't go into thermal throttling (or almost), but with very reduced performance. What can I do to defeat the monstrous temperatures of CometLake-H?
  5. Hello everyone. I'm writing from Italy and have been working in IT since 2002 (when I was still a kid). I hope to find answers to the questions I ask and to be able to help where possible.
