Quite busy all of a sudden. I keep switching between Dying Light 2, Dead Island 2 and Remnant 2, lol, all the 2s 🙂 So far I'm enjoying all of them for some quick evening gaming sessions.

I think it's time for me to revisit Dying Light 2. There was a recent pretty significant patch which addressed some of my main concerns - nights not being scary enough. Also, I read somewhere that we can have a mod to change Lawan's character so I'd try that too...

For older Teslas yes, that's probably a high praise. On the other hand, I do hear that newer models are somewhat better put together but QA can be a gamble. The 2016 Model S that I had, was still with a physical lever for the windshield wipers, but still it was really poorly made. The auto mode was completely useless, either it saw too much rain or not enough. I always just used it in manual mode... this is because they just chose to use the windshield camera as a visual rain detector, they ditched the tried and true sensor every other car has. HVAC controls, yes, I hated that... I always mess with airflow/temp buttons. With the Tesla, I just mostly left it alone. The controls were on the bottom of the screen on an "always on top" band but still, no way to use it without taking the eyes off the road. Being on autopilot helps for a quick look but it's far from ideal... Acceleration, noise (lack off), the idea of driving an EV and not paying for fuel anymore. I do miss these and I hope I'll get another EV down the line...

I keep having flashes of slight regret for moving from a Tesla to a (pretty large) petrol engine, especially after moving from TX to WA. Fuel prices here are crazy high nowadays. Given a time machine, I would've still sold my 2016 Model S but I would've got either a newer Model S or a 3. Before getting a Tesla, I was 100% against their touchscreen only MO. I love physical buttons and switches but in all honesty, I got used to it and it wasn't actually bad. That huge 17 inch screen was actually pretty well thought of...

I have hopes for Starfield but that's at least two and a half months away... Otherwise, I haven't seen any new good ones schedules either.

Not really, I only know from what google tells me about these 🙂 To be honest, BO Cold War was short as well but I still enjoyed it a lot. I don't know... I'll probably pass MW1/2 for now. I did just start Infinite Warfare. So far it looks cool, feel pretty futuristic compared to all the others. I might stick with it. I mentioned Six Days in Fallujah earlier... I don't think that's for me either at this time. From what I read, it's more multiplayer/team play oriented and it's not quite ready. I had thought it'll be a finished game but it appears that more and more companies like money more than having a finished product and just release at some random point. So yeah, still open for ideas... it's getting more and more difficult to find good (new) games for some reason.

hard to tell how many of those 100k only touched it for multiplayer/warzone. I read that it's a 6 hour single player story. I'm not paying full AAA price just for that, I'll find other, more cost efficient ways to entertain myself 😆

Back to my predicament. I ended up uninstalling Black Ops 3. I did remember playing through it and as I said, I'm not feeling the gunplay. On the other hand, now I'd like to try my hands on one of the newer CoD single player campaigns. On a quick search, there are about 47 Call of Duty games and I have no idea which to start with, to be somewhat a newer game and with an ok single player experience... the fact that they seem to even recycle game titles from the series makes this even harder.

I think I need to go play Portal again

I so wanted to like this one and I will give it another shot... just that after the first few hours, I really don't feel drawn in. It's just like D3 to me. If it does anything, it makes me want to go back and play D1 and D2.
-
Well, turns out I had played through BO3 already a long time ago. I vaguely recalled more and more things during the first missions and slowly I remembered the whole game. It's fun, but it does show its age. Gunplay is not as good as current games... feels a bit "disconnected", no feedback on shots if that makes sense. This one is more like the old Crysis games with all the powers and futuristic tech, which is not necessarily bad, just not what I was hoping for at the moment. Not sure what I'll do next. Good tip on Plague Tale, I did like the first one a lot although some puzzles ended up being more repetitive and tedious vs fun but who knows, maybe Requiem is better in that area. Another one which may be interesting is "Six Days in Fallujah", some sort of tactical fps coming out these days... saw a video and it looked cool but I don't know about the story. Hard to think it's going to be too "deep" if it only follows the events over 6 days 🙂

Nope, Wildlands feels weird. I got too used to first person perspective. I did fire up my old save (I did play Wildlands for a good 60-70 hours, I've been quite into it) and turns out it was right before the final mission. I have no idea what possessed me to not finish it back then. Anyway, I completed quickly the final Sueno mission. Quite disappointing to be honest but it's fine. Uninstalled because I needed space for Black Ops 3, lol.

Sad. Finished Black Ops Cold War. I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it. It's quite rare nowadays that I actually finish a game. Only complaint is that it was short. I don't know how many hours but I don't think it was a lot. I haven't had enough of this type of game so I'm thinking of either Ghost Recon Wildlands or Breakpoint. I played both but finished neither. Another option is maybe Black Ops 3? I know it's an older game but I haven't played it. Or maybe some other CoD single player campaigns? I don't even know how many are there or which is the latest...

Well, I have to say D4 did not draw me in as much as I was hoping for. After the first few hours, I'd say it's a solid "meh", a little bit above D3 so far. On the other hand, since I had to update battle.net for D4, I remembered some games I had there and mostly forgot about. Talking about Back Ops Cold War. I used to play Zombies Outbreak a lot and it was so much fun running around with the shotgun. This gave me the idea to try the single player Black Ops Cold War campaign. Man this is so much fun. Doing it on the 2nd to last difficulty, it's not a walk in the park but it's an awesome experience. On one mission I even got DeusEx vibes with stealth and crawling through vents. Others are just plain shooter sections. I'm finding I enjoy this way way more than D4, sadly. I say sadly because I could've used that $70 for something better 🙂

Played for about an hour or so last night... I did like the intro cinematic a lot, this was always high quality for almost all Diablo releases. Otherwise, yes, the game does run well and looks very nice. Perspective seems a bit closer to the character than what we're used to but it's fine, probably they did this to keep performance up and entice the use of cosmetics on the player. I do feel it's nicer than D3, that's true, but for now I wouldn't call it mindblowingly good. Likely none of these subsequent games will ever live up to the feels that D1 and D2 gave us.

It's working now, I got in on the first try. Didn't do anything, closed it right after I saw it start up, I need to finish some work stuff first but I know what I'm doing later today 😆 I still think it's so incredibly stupid for blizzard to have made this 100% online only...
-
Last night I think it was right around when it was opened for the masses, I'm hoping it's just the initial flood of new players... I haven't tried today yet. We'll see a bit later.
-
I know... and I usually don't buy games from them so on these rare occasions it's fine. So yeah, I already talked myself into it, bought it last night, quickly installed before going to bed just to see and I promptly got the login timeout error. Tried a few times, same result. Went to bed. 10 out of 10 experience. We'll see today. They do have a refund policy if under 2 hours played so I'm not too worried yet.

Can't. Take. This. Longer. I keep having debates with myself about just buying D4 right away. I don't think I'll be able to wait until its on sale... Is it really that good? I don't really trust the initial reviews I randomly saw and I'm really afraid it's going to be like D3 with better graphics... someone please talk me into or out of it.
-
In all honesty, if it had an offline mode, I would've bought it already. For me Diablo always was and will be a single player experience. I don't agree at all with blizzard's approach to D3 and D4 to keep them online only just for DRM purposes... Yes, I bought D3 right when it came out, I did enjoy it for a little while but no, I most certainly did not get "my money's worth" out of it.
-
ugh... I really didn't want to give more $ to blizzard after D3 but if I keep reading posts like this, I might just do it. Sitting on my hands for now.
-
Oh yeah, D4 is almost here... as much as I loved D2, I think I'll wait this time for a bit longer and not buy it right away... we'll see.

I haven't made up my mind yet how I feel about System Shock. I like the idea a lot, I might stick with it. Only played for about an hour total so far. It does have a very "classic" game feel to it. When I heard remake, I was sort of hoping they'd bring it more to today's game standards... Speaking of The Last of Us, I've been thinking about it for quite a while now. I played part of it a couple years ago on PSNow, that streaming service which lets you run games on a PC... it's crappy resolution, laggy, but I still was enjoying it a lot. Now I think the only reason which stops me from playing it, is knowing that if I finish it, I won't be able to play Part 2. Clearly I'm not buying a PS5 just for that and I know me, just the idea of it being available but out of reach, would drive me crazy...

So is anyone else playing this since yesterday's release? I spent about an hour or so last night with it. It's fun so far. I like the puzzles and that it's not necessarily linear. The level design does bring back memories from the 90s when the games actually had some thought behind this and not just go forward with full handholding like we do nowadays. I also have to say that I wish there was a way to turn down saturation a bit... feels overly colorful and takes away from the scary/horror elements they were going for. Also, I don't want to look at guides, but how da hec do I get passed the puzzle where you have 4 wires with plugs you can pull and only 3 holes to put them in. I found the combination that all the lights on the bottom are on but nothing happens. This is in the room where if I drop down to the section below, it's full of radiation, and a switch which apparently is not working and should bring up a bridge to the next section...
