  1. Hey Easa, Thanks for this thorough review! Sadly, as expected, the new Fury G11 chassis design (fans/venting) is the real culprit here. I can't understand why they keep making these mistakes, especially on a workstation that, by design, needs to have a proper cooling system. It's a no-go for me, too, just because of this bad design. On the other hand, as you mentioned, the P16 G2 has a good design but lacks a proper ethernet port (more acceptable to me than constantly buzzing fans).
  2. The comparison should be interesting; thanks for your proposal. I am looking forward to it!
  3. By reading comments on the dedicated 7680/7780 sections, ZBook laptops seem to be better at fan management/noise, although they are not perfect due to the chassis design choice. HP ZBook laptops also offer WWAN upgrades, whereas 7680/7780 do not, and it's a deal breaker to me for a workstation nowadays.
  4. Indeed, it was expected. They tend to change the design every two generations. However, HP ZBook Power G10 will be available with an AMD CPU: https://www.hp.com/us-en/workstations/zbook-power.html
  5. Here is the new generation HP ZBook Fury G10: https://www.hp.com/us-en/workstations/zbook-fury.html
  6. Thanks for your suggestion. Not a fan too, but it looks like a good alternative per Notebookcheck: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-ExpertBook-B6-Flip-review-Beefy-workstation-convertible-with-stylus.681663.0.html#toc-8. Also, they have been primarily inspired by Lenovo's workstations for their case/cooling design: I will probably wait a bit to see what HP has in store for the G10 generation, but it's unlikely they will change the design, so the fans will still be misplaced to have a proper cooling for me. Of course, Lenovo's ThinkPad P16 is also a great alternative. However, not having an ethernet port and 4G/5G connectivity is a no-go for me. Perhaps the next generation this year will be better.
  7. Thanks for your review! It's a shame to see how they conceived the fan's vent. They are really misplaced, in my opinion. They probably won't redesign the case for the next G10 model, so let's hope they fix the PSU, at least.
  8. Thanks for your update. Do you still have fan issues, tough?
  9. Sure, I hope next year's models will be a bit better, altough the design will roughly be the same (cooling vents are misplaced in my opinion).
  10. Fortunately, I am not that pressed at that time. Thanks for your suggestions!
  11. Thanks for your feedback. CreatorPro X17 / GT77 are indeed great but cannot be considered a real alternative to me as they are both 17" models. I agree that the reviewer may have been forgiving on these points. Limited CPU performance seems to be a conscious choice for HP as they aim to make long-lasting/safe models. However, the lack of fan configuration/misbehavior is a real concern, and I hope this will get fixed by the next BIOS versions. I still consider this model, but I have many concerns regarding the noise. The next Intel generation will surely be interesting, but I will have to wait much longer.
  12. Thanks for your suggestion. I couldn't find an MSI with Intel 12th / 128Gb ram. The rest of their models are too gaming-focused for me. Real alternatives are, in my opinion, Dell Precision 7670 and Lenovo ThinkPad P16. Of course, that's why I posted this review here. Maybe these are different versions (BIOS and specs)? However, I agree that their lack of configuration is a bit concerning for Linux users. I hope they will fix that with upcoming BIOS updates.
  13. Hi, Here is a nice review of the ZBook Fury G9: The reviewer didn't notice any bad fan noises (with the optional vapor chamber). The G9 is still the best choice compared to the Dell / Lenovo workstations. The P16 doesn't even have an ethernet port or WAN options which are required characteristics for a proper workstation in my opinion.
