Yes, this is a stupid but known thing.  Get to safe mode, go to Device Manager, and disable the "NVIDIA platform controller & framework" device under "Software devices".  You should then be able to boot normally.  To avoid this, you have to run an older version of the NVIDIA driver (I think 511.x and older is safe).

You can also enable Intel TurboBoost 2.0 or some such setting in the BIOS to avoid this, but Dell removed that option in the latest BIOS updates, which is probably why you ran into this right after you updated the BIOS.

If you don't downgrade the NVIDIA driver or the BIOS, then watch out for future NVIDIA driver updates or Windows major upgrades which might "un-disable" this device.  (Hopefully, NVIDIA or Dell eventually fixes this so that we don't have to worry forever.)

You're spot on. Tech support uninstalled the Nvidia driver and reverted back to the 3/9/23 default Windows driver. I

I would've done it myself, but they have our work laptops locked down tight.

  2. Anyone run into this BSOD? It'll probably boot in safe mode. This has happened before and I resolved it by loading the latest bios (1.23.0 at the time) from a USB drive.

This time, it's already running the latest bios so flashing it again didn't do anything.

I believe removing and reinstalling the Nvidia driver would resolve this, however this is my work laptop so I don't have administrative privileges.

  3. I upgraded the AX200 in my HP EliteBook 855 G7 to an AX210. After swapping the chip and trying drivers from both HP and Intel, I'm still unable to connect to the 6GHz signal from my Netgear RAXE500 router. Our phones are able to see and connect to the 6GHz network, but not this HP laptop. My next step is to try a Ubuntu live thumb drive of some kind to see if it can see the 6GHz network. I purchased the AX210 from CDW so I'm confident it's genuine.

In the RAXE500 settings, my region is set to North America.

  4. Some of my family lives in the sticks and has to use T-Mobile Home Internet, as the only other option is overpriced, super slow satellite. I purchased two cheap panel antennas from Amazon and wired them with great results. It's actually a decent connection now.

less of a bother, more of a worry. but that worry bothers me.

tons going on currently, just finished moving into a new appartment, had to handle all of our stuff single-handedly, since my pregnant wife obviously is not allowed to handle any heavy things anymore. luckily im pretty much in peak physical condition atm, been working out hard the past few months but still, was SO much and so stressful, i ended up getting sick.

now in the new appartment, but basically living out of suitcases n boxes, still tons of furniture missing we need to purchase and build.

gonna start my new job in 4 days time. interviews were a blast, seems like they REALLY want me and expect great things.

recently married in August, got our first kid on the way, just found out its gonna be a girl!

soooo....long story short: am i cut out for all this? be a good husband, good father, good employee? i feel so inadequate and stuff currently just feels overwhelming.

a bit more personal than i usually like it to be, but felt like i needed to vent this.

Congrats and best of luck to you in your new jobs(as an employee and parent). The months after my first was born were the most exhausting I've ever experienced but it gets easier. I had one three months before grad school and another during grad school.

  6. Made the mistake of going to Sam's Club at the same time as the after church crowd. So many people stopped to chat or search on their phone on the middle of major walkways, blocking the entire thing. After we got out to the car and loaded up, the family parked next to us (that no doubt saw us loading and preparing to leave) parked one of their two full shopping carts directly behind our vehicle. We weren't able to leave until these sloths fully unloaded both carts and got in their own vehicle.

did anyone manage to scrap the forums and DB to rearchive it later?

which newer forum is winning? there are like 3 or 4 right?

how come i can't like posts?

EDIT: wait did someone manage to nab the domain?

With Spartan's site down, we have this and laptopforum.net left. I'd say this site has the most traffic.
