Getting AlienFX to Sync with music being played in MusicBee

Recommended Posts

Figured id post this incase anyone else is interested as im sure this would apply to other models withing the mx range, but using MusicBee you can use the WMPAlienFX plugin to make the lights react to music.

All thats needed is to copy the WMPAlienFXPlugin.dll from C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\Media Plugin\x86 and place it into C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\BBplugin

After that you can select that plugin from within musicbee and then start Visualizer.

There is abit of a delay of selecting the plugin and starting the visualizer but otherwise it works perfectly fine, once the plugin itself has been selected it saves it so all thats needed to use it is to start visualizer whenever you open musicbee.

Hey Azther, I tried it, works but I lose the screen visuals, the keyboard goes to the music, but is there a way to keep screen visuals and keyboard at the same time, probably asking for too much lol

Well when using the screen for something else the keyboard goes to the music, so it works pretty well, Thanks for the heads up!

what do you mean by screen visuals? if u mean the visualizer yeah you have to keep it on that screen and swap back to the library when changing music. only other thing i can think of that can bug it out sometimes is if you minimize musicbee to the taskbar, so just keep the window unminimized and tab over to something else and it should still continue to work

Here I get the Alienhead while the keyboard flashes to the music. I also noticed my #7 zone light is out, dont know when that happened, but the keyboard flashes to the music fine

hmm zone 7 being off is weird, perhaps a theme bugged out or something. yeah that alien head is just a thing telling you that the alienfx plugin for the lights is active so thats normal, u just have to tab back to music to change songs or whatnot and then click the visualizer tab again to continue using the alienfx

Cool. I remember back in the day using Winamp and the plugin to get the lights to pulse with the beat. You could set every lighting zone differently to react to different beats/rhythms. I haven't thought about that for a long time.
