Kassowen
Hello Notebook Talk Laptop heatsinks are known for their low pressure in mounting, and quality of thermal pads can vary, and in the interest of longevity an performance of vrm's, mosfets, and vram, what pads and methods work well for this? From what I have seen, some OEM's perfer a long strip across a section of the vrm's, mosfets, and vram that covers the entire portion of it, while other OEM's and models do that same thing, with the exception now being the vram, which is covered now by a small individual piece of thermal that covers something like 2/3 of the area of the vram chip. I assume in covering only about 2/3 of the vram chip, that a stiffer pad is being used, while a softer pad is used for the mosfets and vrm's, I assume someone here has this down to a good science, given the low mounting pressure and specific pad types, and staying with what is already on the machine isnt a bad idea, though quality control and longevity and performance is usually whats in question. Its not hard to replace them either, at least compared to say a LM job, but I am looking for input on this.
Vasudev
I use arctic thermal pads, they are soft and lasts long time w/o breaking the bank.
RRPD4130
Old thread, sorry, but if I'm reading it now....K5Pro replaced my silicone pads forever. When somebody tells you that something cannot be done, listen to them. Then, do it anyway.

Alright, I tried the stuff but wasnt particularly liking of it. Either A7000 or Laird 607 works far better.
