X170 Watercooling running 2 Years

This water cooling heatsink has poor performance compared to what Rainer124 makes, and the proof of this is that there is very little demand for it, and what was sold lasted for a long time and was offered for sale until it was sold out. I follow everything related to the P870X device, even on the Taobao website. It is not for sale because it failed. But the P7xx succeeded because the distance between the processor and the GPU is short, but with the distance between them in the P870x, for water cooling to be effective, it needs a heatsink that is thicker than normal to make good water paths, and this is impossible, so rainer124 designed an effective water cooling that suits the design of the P870x.

Why water cooling. !? Because the P870xx and the X170 is extremely loud and just annoying with headphones !! My cooling does not make any noise and the GPU has a maximum of 44 degrees at 100% load. Yes for the 5 minutes of benchmark 48 degrees is great but when gaming after 2 hours the laptop glows !!! This is the truth !!!! Mine still has 44 degrees after 2 hours! 😉

I have already built and sold a lot of cooling. For nothing, I don't do that it should stay mobile. I thought a lot with my heat exchangers. They are calculated in such a way that you can reduce 200-300 watts of power. Only with those from AliExpress it doesn't work, too little flow! And only air cooling doesn't work at all! The original vapor is even better!

Sli system P870TM 3080 only for benchmark.  And this colling system reduced 400 watt. And the original air colling  system still works.... but nothing can cooling 2x 3080 with air cooling. And you can close the  housing coverScreenshot_20241026_225012_Gallery.thumb.jpg.74d7671e8b3e137c67d435d514ddf0e3.jpg

Everything is impressive, but I just don't get it...why such an enourmous investment of time, effort and money in a model which is already obsolete? In two years it will be suitable for old games , word and excel only, figuratively said.

Relax, my friend. Not many people here know the effectiveness of the water cooling systems you make. Perhaps I will buy it and do a full video test explaining all the modern games and content creation programs and display them here with the temperatures.

You may be right, but at the present time only because an adapter design has been made to install a desktop graphics card inside this P870X laptop with a water block to cool the graphics card. You can install up to the RTX 4080s and some models of the new RTX 50xx because the adapter supports even PCIe Gen5. The testing process is currently underway

Still…CPU Limitation will be inevitable in and it will end the same as it was on HP 8770W - GTX 1070 on 3940XM.
At one certain point the games‘ FPS  will be CPU limited and the GPU will be power wasted only, no matter 4xxx or 5xxx series.

You are right and I can kind of agree about P870, there is much more space inside to take this mod successfuly.
I just don‘t get this enormous effort for X170 where everything is limited as a space inside and desktop GPU won‘t fit at all…

that is the difference.
I know it's not out of date! I've been playing COD for 6 years
on my p870km with 2080 with 2k resolution and approx.
100FPS 165HZ what more do I need. why should the x170 be
obsolete in 2 years! I have a p570wm3 with 1080 and
E5 1680 V2 an 8 core so you can still play the new cod
with 65 FPS.
what's the point if I have 150 FPS!??? nothing !!!!!!
I can still play with the x170 in 5 years without any problems...

There is a lot of difference between 65 and 150FPS if you play a competitive game like CoD. I can enjoy full max details with 230 FPS on RTX 4090 mobile, while to reach anywhere near 150FPS with RTX 3080 mobile I need to drag the details down to medium. Not a big deal, of course , but it takes away from the fun. In two years I will need to drag the details even lower to stay at a competitive frame rates.
of course, it’s all matter of how good you are/wanna be in a competitive game. I can say immediately if I play with 100 or 150FPS and especially if G-Sync is on or off. The implementation of the G-Sync for the 1440p 165HZ screen of X170KM is made terribly as there is still stuttering in CoD. 144HZ and 300HZ are better ones in this regard.
X170KM is worth keeping only from collector’s perspective, as the last DTR warrior. I will keep mine just because of this sentimentality, otherwise pretty much all of the modern gaming laptops blow it away as CPU/GPU/RAM raw power and quality of the screen, no matter what modifications are done.

I know people who are using it - not a shit in any case, probably a little worse than Reiner’s solution.
