Hey guys, new to the forum and have an issue I need some help with. I have a 2012 alienware m14xr2 that i just use for audio recording. I bought a samsung evo 870 1TB SSD to replace the HHD.

Clone was succesful. When connected to usb, its showing in disk managment and i set the SSD to be read as a primary drive, all partitions were cloned. The SSD driver was installed prior to the clone, and drive is reconized in samsung magician.

The drive wont show up when installed in bios. It shows up when connected via USB. It appears to boot the OS from the USB drive as well.

The sata cable is fine, it works fine when I put my HHD back in. My bios is updated (A16).

Sata operation us set to AHCI. Secure boot is set to disabled. Boot option is set to UEFI.

When i try and boot it, it says no device found. Diagnostic test doesnt show the SSD. Googled this to my wits end and cant figure out why this wont work. I used acronis true image to clone and there was no errors.

Can someone help me?

Thanks!

Jon

I use Marcium reflect free edition to clone drives. Maybe try formatting it and try again. I am using a 870 Evo in a M14xR1 so it should work.

Is the drive recognized if you boot from a windows install usb?
