Dell Precision 7710/7720 weird CPU temperature readings. Doing 40c to 99c with fresh paste and new RTX 4070 MXM
Hello.
I bought 2 Dell precision 7720.
One was with a Quadro P3000, working fine, until I put the RTX 4070 MXM. I modded the heatsink (1.2mm copper plate) so it has a good contact with the RTX MXM.
The CPU temperature reading are WTF. When the CPU or GPU is doing something, the CPU is pegged at 99-100C. With PTM 7950 and cleaned vents...
When I insert back the Quadro P3000 with the modded heatsink, same issue.
So I bought another 7720 w
Finally the RTX 4070 works fine without any temp issues. Same for the CPU. No more craziness overheating from 40c to 99c. Max temp was 72c and not 100c!
Here's a picture on where to cut in order to make your XVSION and ZRT RTX 4050/4060/4070 to work in your Dell Precision 7710 and 7720.
