  1. Did you do anything special to format the drive? I followed your instructions but it just loaded to OS recovery.
  2. Can confirm this was not changed, the undervolting, and the customize field was still missing. Back to 1.6.0 for now. Alienware says they are still working on it.
  3. I have brought this up with them again, considering it was supposedly supposed to be disabled in 1.6.0, which wasn't the case.
  4. Not so far, just the BIOS resetting due to a failed OC setting or something like that, even though I am not OCed.
  5. Had a decent get together with Alienware to provide feedback on the M18 and CC and those things. Definitely passed along the disappointment of the new CC, so hopefully we see some changes.
  6. Yep, I repasted with Conductonaut a few weeks ago now. I have had mine for probably a month or two? Somewhere in there. When I got the machine the temps were high, understandably, just like most, but I was seeing lower scores and much lower wattage at peak. I repasted with Conductonaut and immediately my scores went up by quite a bit and the wattage the CPU could pull went up another 50w. The GPU saw no improvement at all, so the Element31 was working well there, but based on what I saw on my CPU there appeared to be an air bubble possibly, causing poor contact / no contact with paste in one corner. The CPU will still 100% hit 100c on multiple cores, but it's pulling much better performance now doing so. I got some PTM7950 in as well, but I have not been ambitious enough to pull it apart again to try it again. I did remove the LM and try traditional paste, but that produced much worse results overall. This CPU really needs LM or some sort to reach it's full potential. I should note that I have the 13900hx not the 13980hx, but the differences between them are minor at best.
  7. Already reported 😊, it's on their radar. We're seeing a few posts about it on Reddit so they can track those as well.
  8. Anyone seeing any increase in the error message at boot that your system has failed to boot 3 times unsuccessfully? I am getting it every weekish, and the funny part is the system is turned off and moved to a new location and that's it, there is definitely no failure to boot 3 times in a row, so not really sure what's causing this. The only OC settings I am even using are the undervolting options in the BIOS, so not really sure what's happening there.
  9. I actually have IC Diamond, it's been my go to for years, but I have already gone back to Conductonaut, so I am going to leave that alone until my Honeywell phase change pads show up.
  10. Just tried a repaste using traditional paste, Noctua NT-H2 to be precise, and it looks like I lost performance. So traditional paste is not likely going to be the way to go here. Will probably move it back to LM later on.
  11. I had a much smaller experience with the guy as well. Sent him something, he said he would pay shipping etc and it never happened. It was a small enough amount I just let it go, but I think it probably speaks towards his character. I dealt with him a lot over the last few years as part of another group and he was very hard to get along with at times, just a very odd person. He asked me to send him some other stuff, but something just felt off, so I never even considered it. Good luck getting your money back @wheres my computer, hope you can track it all down.
  12. Yep, a few times. I even reinstalled Windows to no avail. Did you do the BIOS changes to unlock undervolting prior to 1.6.0? If so maybe that's it and it just didn't get patched out again in the new BIOS. I am pretty much waiting on the next BIOS at this point before I continue trying to much with it. I am busy trying to stop CC from updating to v6 again, I can't stand v6 changing my lights all the time.
  13. Yes, I am running at -140 through the BIOS now, and that shows in HWinfo, but not in XTU.
  14. So, how many people have been successful in actually using XTU to undervolt the M18 so far? I know that 1.6.0 was supposed to fix this, which it obviously did for some. I have seen screenshots of people using it successfully, but no matter what I seem to change I can not get XTU to remove that lock 😞 Reset BIOS to defaults, OC on and or off in the BIOS. Different settings inside AWCC don't seem to matter either. Not really sure what else I am missing here. I can try resetting defaults again, but that seems unlikely to change much at this point. Curious if it's just me, or if others are experiencing this before I report it as a bug to AW.
  15. Have to love how even with TCC Offset on 15 it still wants to jump well past that 🤪. My M15R5 locked at 15 would never go more then 1 or 2 c over.
  16. If you don't use TCC are you hitting 100c instantly? Mine does, does not matter at all if there is LM in there or not, 170w is just to much for this chassis to keep under control on that CPU.
  17. You know....I finished putting it back together and thought to myself...why the hell didn't I document this lol. All I have is pics of my heatsink and die, which clearly shows an air bubble or something in mine, which is why I was stuck at like 114w on Cinebench, I literally never passed that until I repasted. That's what I used, but honestly I pretty much just skimmed that and then winged it. If you have any experience working in laptops and organize your parts then it's really not that bad. I want to see someone's temps with a more traditional paste still, but I don't feel like pulling mine apart again right now. I have like 3 different brands of the good stuff just waiting haha.
  18. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong here, but wasn't that supposed to essentially shift, or at least equalize once we got into faster DDR5. I know it was definitely the case with DDR4, but I thought I remember someone saying that would eventually even out.
  19. Yep, unfortunately, but it's holding at 172w consistently now. It bounces around, but it def does hit 100c. Strangely enough it's not changing my Firestrike scores though.
  20. I agree. I just pulled the following, and I don't even know what I changed to pull and extra 2k from my top score previous.
  21. I find that most of the time it's caused by one of two things, not that I am saying that's what happened here. The screw driver is the wrong size, or the tip if the screwdriver is just to pointy and the screwdriver does not sit in the screw as deep as it should and just strips it. I have 4 different sets of tools, all small for working on laptops and NONE of them are anywhere near as good as my iFixit kit, that thing is just perfect for laptop work. Either way, I do agree, sometimes the screws are WAY to tight, I have had to drill and remove the head of a few before, although it's been awhile. Glad you seem to have gotten it sorted in the end. Removing keyboards is always such a PITA.
  22. Interesting. I will try the power limits again, the last time I tried changing that was when I hit the black screen reboot issue and had to rest the BIOS. I did see someone on Reddit claiming that the stock Dell image scores better then a fresh Windows install. Not sure why that would ever be, but that's what they are claiming. I did blow away the stock image about 10 minutes after I opened the box, and well before I did any tests, so I can't confirm. I don't entirely feel like re-installing the Dell OS ATM either, although I did get it onto a flash drive. The weird part about maxing the fans is when I do it greys out the OC menu in the BIOS, so I don't know if those settings are holding once CC seems to overwrite everything. I will have to do some more testing.
  23. According to what I have been told the alcohol causes the components of the Element 31 to separate and it becomes a pain to clean it up and remove it when that happens. Honestly, it wiped off so easily with just a cloth I don't know why anyone would even need alcohol.
  24. In regards to that, are you locking your CPU frequency with the OC menu? Your CPU stays so perfectly level in your testing, mine is up and down, even without any thermal throttling...it's weird. Like the guy on Reddit, my CPU score is stuck in the 17,500 range.
