  1. main issue for me is 5 year accidental. with 7760, they been here 5 or 6 times now replacing this godIO&*&%^&%^&& keyboard.... paint peeling, keys stop working, so.... ya, i mean, if 7780 goes on clearance next year, ill consider it, but right now. i may just keep using this and my razor which has 3090 and 13th gen cpu
  2. i have a 7760 and it's 4 years, i still have 1 year on accidental. i dont think 7780 is an upgrade unfortunately, as i am mostly looking for newer cpu's... ideally i'd want them to use and, but u know... but tb5 for docks, sounds nice and maybe worth it 2560x1600 i think?
  3. i dont need more than 32gb ram, but i want the fastest ram possible... i.e as ill use it for 5 years, i want the best chance for it to stay viable 🙂 decisions decisions...
  4. understood, but are those even available? sounds like I am either skipping this year or getting alienware area-51. But, I have a razer laptop from few years ago, I made convert into my daily driver and skip a few more generations!
  5. q is. if u buy sodimm, can u move to camm or is it a different motherboard, i'd imagine it'd have to be..... maybe i missed 64gb module... i'd be enough with 32gb.. right now, this config is so pricey... my 7760 with 5 year accidental was below $2500 with tax and a4000... now it's $6600 before any discounts, so my guess, i could get it to like $4k, which is a huge price hike!
  6. did I see this right but there is no 64gb ram option and upgrade from 16gb to 128gb camm is $1895!>!>!>!>!
  7. area-51 does have things I need. 3 usb-a ports. power plug in the back. but I wonder if it has fingerprint reader alongside with windows hello
  8. Sucks that it only has 2 USB-A since I have wireless headset/mouse occupying both and 3rd would be nice for usb flash drive swappage, for example. Also sucks that no back power connector as they had for a long time, which I always preferred as well.
  9. I think it says that it draws over 280w. Are there usb-c connectors that support that much power? If so, shoooooooooot, I hope not.
  10. I like having options, so I am all for different screens, but personally, I do not want a glossy screen. And, if you make it OLED Matte, then you'll lose most of the color accuracy, etc. Also, I think it would use more power (but I guess who uses these on an actual battery?). I just hope the power plug is still in the back and they will allow to order gaming GPU online... but, it's still far away enough, than who knows what will happen at launch!
  11. My only guess that there are either no OLED panels made fpr 18" , or they are made by exclusive to some brand. Or maybe they will be unveiled later. I wonder what's better camm or normal ram if same capasity.
  12. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Pro-Max-16-Plus-and-Dell-Pro-Max-18-Plus-announced-with-RTX-Pro-Blackwell-GPUs-tandem-OLED-panel-and-CAMM-memory-support.981358.0.html more info 🙂 DELL PRO MAX AVAILABILITY - Dell Pro Max 14/16 Available with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) and integrated graphics on March 27, 2025. - Available with AMD Ryzen processors and NVIDIA RTX PROTM Blackwell Laptop GPUs in July 2025. - Available with Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) and NVIDIA RTX PROTM Blackwell Laptop GPUs in July 2025. - Dell Pro Max Premium and Dell Pro Max Plus will be available in July 2025 my guess all delays point to nvidia graphics supply issues.
  13. we shall see, of course... and yes, I would also hope for 2560x1600 on the 18" feels like it'll offer the best of both worlds...
  14. interesting on the 200w tdp 18" maybe it means they will let you order 5090 online now, vs calling only?? anything on the type of screens? dont want 4k, but want a nice quality 1440p, possibly micro led
  15. understood. i was hoping it means they replaced the actual case, cause mine is peeling badly. first precision that peeled in 10+ years
  16. can you elaborate what the replacement with palm wrest entail>? i lost tubber thing at the bottom, my keyboard been replaced 3 or 4 times now... and roight side and left side, are like cheap headphones, peeling offff.. i didnt know those things were replaceable..
  17. I had to replace m6 7760 keyboard 3 or 4 times now...annoying... so better quality would be nice. And, I like non-fn print screen button!
  18. Lots of interesting dell pro max pics and even a video here https://axicom.egnyte.com/fl/vS302r6mj8 keyboard looks raised a bit, compared to my 7760 anyway...
  19. Dell and anyone else, sees Apple being able to charge more and they want it, of course. By confusing this public with this name schemes, they assume that passers by will jump in. Now, us, the NICHE, who know products, history, etc this is obviously a ripoff, but we are also not their market... We are the few, the proud, the ones who own at least 3+ gens of dell precision laptops (like me). In the end, everyone has to vote with their wallet. And, if dell precision is not offering 18" model this year, then I will def look elsewhere. I don't need 16" model. I won't feel bad if I don't have a new, shiny precision model, just like Dell won't feel bad for me for not having the same... I am still pissed that I have to click fn to get to print screen button... LOL. I use that so much these days....
  20. Very interesting developments. I wonder if you can add gaming gpu this game into precision line (err pro max). I think you used to be able to via call vs online. But, definitely interesting developments
  21. ahh, great to know, my last machine is 7x60. it's like a 10 year old non-stick fry pan, all peeling the non-stick on sides left and right of the mouse pad and they had to replace keyboard at least 3 or 4 times now, but otherwise, it has performed well. thank god for the promo of 5 year accidental warranty at the time of order
  22. This is a good thing. We do not need a refresh every year with minimal upgrades. Hopefully, the 2025 will have new cam stuff, new other stuff, and especially an option for a non-business graphics as well. My precision will be 4 years old next June, so might e time for an upgrade, if it's worth it.
  23. I may try alienware stuff next time as they come with mechanical keyboard option, so maybe they will be sturdier won't be this year though 13th/14th gen stuff is same, and hope is next year, it'll b worth the upgrade!
  24. well, that's not good. I was thinking of upgrading to a new precision next year, but now, I have my doubts....
