  1. https://www.jedec.org/news/pressreleases/jedec-publishes-new-camm2-memory-module-standard I just wanted to share this. I wasn't sure if it has been shared already or not. You should start seeing more and more systems & vendors using CAMM, and also seeing CAMM offered in more locations for purchase, now that it has been ratified by JEDEC. Tks Mano
  2. Yes the SSD door is available on both the 7680 & 7780. WWAN options are available. Your local Dell person should go and review the training documents on the products. If you don't order a WWAN you will not get the antenna's for WWAN. CAMM memory and SoDIMM interposer are both available globally. Again, I would reference your local Dell person to review the training docs. ECC memory is available the same as it was last gen, with the SoDIMMs only via an interposer.
  3. We are the only ones with a 165W adapter. The WD19DC will work with the 5680. It is the only dock that will provide enough power to the system to run it at full performance. If we use a different single type C dock, you will need to also plug in the 165W type C adapter to for full performance. Precision has a 16" performance thin system, XPS does not. They still have a 15" & 17". Our 5680 scales to high performance than the 17".
  4. Not this gen. There are other updates but those are the main ones. Thin chassis is still around. Not at this time.
  5. Yes it does come with a custom wallpaper celebrating the anniversary.
  6. Just to clarify, the Precision 5680 does have a 165W power supply option. It also has a vapor chamber for the high end GFX, for performance reasons.
  7. Sorry for the late notice, I just saw this on my calendar. 8. @Aaron44126 is correct. Between the CAMM memory module (also the SoDIMM interposer) and the motherboard there is a compression module. It has the U or checkmark shaped pins on it to connect the CAMM module, or interposer, to the motherboard. There are different thickness compression modules depending on if you are using CAMM memory or SoDIMMs via the interposer. Because the interposer is thicker, due to the SoDIMM connectors, it has a much thinner compression module than if you are using CAMM memory. The thinner module is about 0.4mm. The thinner compression module is used to allow the leverage of the same bottom doors. If we only had 1 compression module than we would need different thickness bottom doors. Due to this we have 2 different thickness compression modules in use, one for the CAMM module and one for the interposer. The interposer should never have to be removed. The SoDIMMs can just be removed/replaced on the interposer the same as you would any other SoDIMMs in a laptop. If swapping out CAMM memory, you would leverage the same compression module as was already there. Due to possible customer issues with swapping back and forth from CAMM to interposer, and not knowing the proper procedures, we currently don't allow going back and forth between the two types of memory. I hope this helps.
  9. Howdy @MyPC8MyBrain, swapping back and forward from SoDIMM to CAMM, and vise versa, is not support. There are different thickness parts that are needed for the swap to be successful. I just wanted to give you a heads up.
  10. All panels on the 7670, & 7770, are DC dimming and not PWM for panel backlight output. PWM is used for the system output to the panel but all panel backlight output is DC dimming.
  11. The 93WHr battery will NOT fit in the thin chassis. The thin chassis has the 83Whr battery which is thinner than the 93WHr battery and it is also wider than the 93WHr battery. Because it is wider, it covers 1 of the 3 M.2 SSD slots giving allowing only 2 M.2 SSD slots to be usable. The chassis on the 7670 is determined by what GFX card you order. If you order with Intel UMA, NVIDIA RTX A1000 or A2000, you will get the thin chassis with the 83WHr battery and only 2 M.2 SSD slots. Ordering with the NVIDIA RTX A3000, A4000, or A5000, will get you the performance chassis with 93WHr battery and option for up to 3 M.2 SSD slots.
  12. I remember some folks had questions regarding the 12th gen CPU's with performance cores and efficiency cores and the OS ability to control/route work to them. In the BIOS, there is an area where you can go and adjust how many P cores and/or E cores are available to the OS. I hope this addresses the concerns some folks have with Win 10's ability to manages all these cores.
  13. Europe issues with i9, that is just online issues. There are no restrictions for i9. I hope they are able to address those issues soon. 256GB is only available for first drive. This is the same as on the 7x60's. We are not allowing 256GB to be ordered in another location, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th M.2 location. If you order only a single drive, we continue to offer everything in the system to add additional drives. 4 drives requires a bigger battery, yes this is correct. Think about the total power consumed by these systems. With 4 drives in the system, you are looking at a possible max power consumption scenario. We have to think about the max configuration. Think, i9, RTX A5500, 128GB memory, 4 x M.2 drives, UHD panel, etc.., and they are all running at the same time. In that event we need the larger battery to be able to handle the max system load. That is why we default to the larger battery with 4 drives in the system.
  14. Yes it would. I'm not aware of any settings in the BIOS to disable the efficiency cores. I will check. Correct, you can use any Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter and get the higher speeds.
