UPDATE: The gpu is installed 🤩 Next upgrade will be the RAMs. Are these okay? Also, any other recommendations for future upgrades?

i extracted the .exe file (bios installer) and changes some values in the platform.ini files. Battery and ac check from 1 to 0. I have installed the a15 unlocked bios now (i found it here in a post at the alienware club). I have to install the gpu drivers now because it doesn’t recognize it. I still haven’t figured out the peg reset thing

UPDATE: I found a way to bypass the battery check. I installed latest bios and therefore the unlocked ones. Now the primary display settings keep resetting back to peg instead of staying in sg mode. So i think that this is the reason i am getting the 8 beeps again

I am trying to install the original bios first. That is what the instructions from the unlocked version say. I keep getting “test.” instead of proceeding when i try to update

i am trying to update from bios a09 to a15 but i cant (the a15 unlocked bios says that i have to install the original first). i have a dead battery so i am trying the usb method. I don't know what i am doing wrong, i simply cannot do it. I am stuck

Hello everyone. My name is Frank. I found my father's old laptop (m17xr4) rusting in a box. I cleaned it up and got it to work again. That gave me joy and i decided to upgrade it. At first, i replaced the hdd drive with a ssd one. The gpu was next. I ordered gtx1070 from ebay and after two months of long wait, it finally arrived. I put it on but i am getting the 8 beeps. Now i am back to the gtx 675m (working normally). Do i need to make extra changes before i install the 1070 or did i get scammed? It started as a fun project but now i dont know.. haha. extra info: i am using the original 60hz lcd panel, windows 10, bios A09 Thanks in advance.
