Just sorted out the purchase of a 4090 directly with ZRT. It should arrive either end of next week or early the following week. I will test it in the LVDS M6800 while i await for my eDP M6800 and associated parts to arrive.

Ok, the 4090 mobile card that I got does indeed look like a ZRT not look like a ZRT and is instead a X-Vsion card. I've used the CH341 bios programmer to download a copy of the vbios for @SuperMG and he has confirmed from the vbios extract as well. Work meeting ended a bit late. I will install the card tomorrow and test it with the Optimus M6800. I am no longer testing the card in the LVDS M6800 as I was also intending to deploy it in a eDP M6800 which is now not possible without the EDID hack. I have initiated for a full refund and return of the card with Taobao. Unless the seller really confirms that he has a ZRT version with proper pictures and video to backup his claim, if not I'm not getting the 4090 from him anymore. I will instead deploy the P5200 to the eDP M6800 I am building. @SuperMG the P5200 will work with the eDP M6800 right? *Edit: On closer look, it is an X-Vsion 4090 MXM card and not a ZRT version. It is going against the confirmation by the seller and I have initiated for a full refund.*

@SuperMG @Annihilator @Aaron44126 What's the fastest mxm card we can deploy in a M6800 LVDS setup without the mux limiting the performance of the mxm card? P5200? RTX5000? Or?

That sucks... But we don't really need the volume control we do need the LED board to see the status.

I'm uploading the images I got from the seller. Not sure what brand this is but it is a 150W card. I will ask the seller the manufacturer's name and take clearer pictures. Where are you selling the cable mod? @SuperMG Update: Seller just confirmed it is made by ZRT! So now we can get the vbios!

I just dived in and bought an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU from a seller in Taobao and he is working together with me to try to get it working on the M6800. He seems fairly knowledgeable as well. I should get it in a few days' time and see how it works out. However, I need to make sure the new GPU heatsink that I got from eBay is the newer version that works with the M6800 unlike the older version that SuperMG got from the same seller. If it works, I will have a few cards to sell... P5000 for the M6800 and a P5200 which I have yet to flash with the vbios that works with the M6800 and an RTX3000.

You got the 4 heatpipes version + a new CPU heatsink from the same seller as the 3 heatpipes? If that's the case, then I need to reach out to him.

Does anyone knows what is the max dimensions of the MXM card that can be fitted into the M6800? I am currently discussing with several sellers on Taobao for RTX3080 16GB MXM cards. There's 2 versions that the seller have and one is longer. The shorter version is out of stock at the moment and so is his RTX4090. He does have RTX5000 16GB MXM cards though. I also just read SuperMG's post above that the new heatsink doesn't fit properly... hmm...

Any idea when the more expensive option would be out? Update: The M6800 GPU heatsink I ordered from ebay has just arrived at my doorstep! Shipping sure is quick! But that's because I'm in Singapore and shipping from China only takes 1-2 days... 😆

Ah yes, I have read some performance issues/limitations if it is working through Optimus. Does the backlight not work using Optimus? I will have a look at the RTX 4080 or 4090 ZRT version or Quadro RTX 5000 depending on your recommendations.

Which ones will you recommend? RTX 5090, RTX 4090 or Quadro RTX 5000? I want to give them a try!

His case was the only one I can find on the internet with a successful 32GB being ran in the M6800. Sadly though, there's nothing to back his case other than what he mentioned.

Just the generic Intel ones. I'm using Win10.

You can get the BE200HMW, it works directly in our usual WLAN card slot without having to go through any adaptor. It supports WIFI 7 and Bluetooth v5.4. I have one on my M6800!

That's great news! Does it mean we can use this CPU heatsink to install the MXM B cards that is offset to towards the centre of the card? Also keep us updated on the more expensive option when it comes out!

Those cards beyond RTX3000 either have a slightly different offset layout that needs extensive mods on the gpu heatsink or is build a tad too big to fit the M6800.
