Precision 7540 & Precision 7740 owner's thread

I bought 7730 with 8750h cpu and quadro p4200 8gb.Does anyone know this quadro can work in dedicated mode (without intel) ? I replace 32gb ram and ssd of my previous 7530 to this,a total perfomance is better. And i like 7730's temperatures,it works much quieter. The overall impression - why i ddn't buy it before 😀👍 -

I perhaps will stay with Precision.Dell is already habitual for me.In future i want to try Kryosheet on cpu PS.I did disassembly my book and removed a bit of putty (for necessary 0.5-1 mm thikness). It became better. -

Thanks for answer. How hot did your 8850h work without undervolt and other operations?I mean who's cooling is better,Zbook or Precision (comparable models) ? -

In a peak,average is 70-75.And now i see not a throttling. -

Are lower HP's scores equal to lower working temperatures?I saw that review, thanks. It's strange now i'm watching maximum 88-90 degrees and average 70-75 in my games (Stalker Gamma is enough heavy for harware, and Chivalry 2 is very CPU depending) without throttling,at idle 40-42,at Chrome is under 50-55 (Youtube, some tabs watching).Maybe is symply curved microsoft update was a cause of all these problems.Do i need reset Bios to default (just in case) ? Maybe any bug/error was here? I'm using this legs third time (my previous 7530,7510 and current 7530,all works and holds perfect,an altitude is enough, more than 1".Notebook breathes free.I bought its on Alyexpress for 1-1.5 USD.About putty - i bought Honeywell HT10000,it is of average softness. But maybe i'll disassembly notebook and see.If you say about 0.5mm so i'll see a print. -

And what do you think or know about HP Workstations,a cpecifically Zbooks Fury 15/17 g6/g7 ? Are they better or worst by performance and temperatures than Precisions? -

Thanks for answer.Yes,it is.I did change turbo-boost plan from default agressive to efficient agressive.Termal putty sells in needles so i make 2 sausages and it's total volume is not big on smd and vrm.Seems to be all these can reduce total heating as it was earlier.I put my notebook on these legs so it breathes good. -

I don't understand,my 7530 did work well all the time. But after the last windows (w10) update did installed old nvidia driver and some system troubles begin. And overheating (with throttling) begin also.I reinstalled windows but overheating was left.I did update ptm with thermal pads (putty). It seems that all works good. But what is strange - previous service with cleaning and new therm.interface was 1 month ago.Any viruses, the system is clean of all bloatware and telemetry,a bios is last.I'm always in all working loads watching cpu's temp and i'm sick of this.I want service once and not watch "under the hood" during 1-2 years (what i can with my old 7510).Now i'm thinking to change my 7530 to 7730(40) or what do you think/know about Hp Workstations - a specifically Zbook Fury 15/17 g6/g7. PS. What is this part on photo?Classic pad was there and i changed it to putty also (ht10000) -

Hello guys.Do you know,is a 7730(40)'s cooling system better than 7530?Or i will see also 85+ degrees on cpu (on working load) ? -

Guys, can i change my 60Hz (1080p) screen to another faster (120,144,165Hz) on my 7530?Maybe from other Dell's model. Now I have installed a Quadro p3200 with nv-192 radiator, perfomance is very well, using ptm7950 on cpu and gpu cristalls, and Honeywell HT10000 thermal putty (10Wk*m) on vrm.Now I play games with v-sync On (in game setting, global in nvcp works worse), without fps limiter, low latency mode is ON (Ultra does not work smoothly, with micro stutter). So the input delay is not huge, my games can be played in full but I'll want to minimize the delay as much as possible. -

I received a heatsink for p3200/rtx3000 from Aliexpress. But it came a little curved, and connection holes on gpu not matched by installing. So bad but its not the end of the world,i leave this idea, but at least i changed my Gelid HeatPhase for a fresh Ptm7950 on cpu.I see a little difference in temperatures already,Ptm is noticeably better.Thank you guys for answers and advices, have a nice day! -

Thank you guys for answers.I think i need not to bother about other cpu,my 8750 is fully enough for today.Only i'll change gpu.Do you know a difference between delta and sunon fans, what are better? -

Oh,so good.On my previous 7530 with 8850h cpu's a peak temperature was higher than on my today's and had a little throttle. So i made an undervolt. Now i'm using cpu at full speed (or about) without undervolt and any limit of max.frequency or tdp.My p3200's heatsink maybe delivered coming soon,i want to try a Cryosheet on cpu.So i hope to play Stalker 2)) at least on minimal settings)) Have another questions - do you know need i change 180w power adapter to 240w?And second question about Xeons, are they colder than i7 ? -

Guys, what processor perfomance boost mode are you using?I'm watching my notebook works smoothly on last mode (Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed) in games,i mean it shows the best temperatures without peak jumps. So when i used "Efficient enabled" the temperature can jump to 80-88 degrees and normalizes to working 70-76.A simple "enabled" works worse.Aggressive and efficient aggressive modes works not stable with higher temperatures and jumps. Can anyone explain me a work of each mode? And one more question - what size (thickness) of thermal pads 7530 uses on cpu's vrm and gpu vram?I had some heating problem on my past 7540 due to wrong thickness. So i switched to a Laird's Tputty 910 (9.1W/m*k).Its a good choice or traditional pads are better (Odyssey,Gelid GP,Upsiren and similar) ? -

I understand.Working temperature pleases me now,but why not to change my TIM to other if it can reduce some temperature more (if can).I bought an other heat sink for Quadro p3200 (i'm using t2000 now) on Aliexpress also,so i'll simply try the Kryosheet, always can return to proven Ptm7950. -

Oh thanks. So if my temperatures feel like good,i think a contact between the heatsink and the CPU is good.So i'll try Kryosheet, not a Carbonaut on CPU (only) from your advice. -

Thank you for answer. So Thank you for answer.Maybe i'll install a ptm7950 later or i want to try a cryosheet or carbonaut also. With Gelid ptm cpu's temperature goes to 79-85 degrees in peak and normalizes to 65-75 in games. With graphene pads will be better or it will have only longer life resource? Did you see any issues with installation (slide for example)? -

Hello guys.I have Precision 7530 with i7 8750h,now i'm using Gelid HeatPhase ultra (analog of ptm 7950, 8.5Wt also) on cpu and gpu.Gpu's temp is fine always, but how can i lower it on cpu? (without using LM).Is PTM and analogs are top now,or graphene pads are better? (TG Cryosheet or Carbonaut) -

Thanks again. So this is a reason for thinking about t1000 or 1650.Have one more question - can you explain me why xeon e3-1535m (has 4 cores/8 threads with 2.9-3.8hz) works with normal temperatures (i saw 70-71 C maximum),but i5-9400h on same process size 14nm and socket, has also 4 cores/8 threads with a similar perfomance, but works hot and a temperature jumps every second, from normal to peak with difference 15-20 degrees.Xeon's temps increase smoothly, without any jump. Both notebooks are clean, with new thermal interface. -

Great!Thank you guys very much for answers. So i maybe would buy p2000,it's price is lower than t1000's.I did work with p2000 on precision 7530,it's perfomance was enough for me,but 7530's cpu is hot,7510 has nice temperatures. And something else - do you feel some delay (input lag) with switchable graphics in games? -

Hello.guys.Sorry for my english (if anything).I'm using Precision 7510 with xeon e3-1535m v5 and quadro m2200.Does anyone know - does it work with Pascal's architecture gpu?I'm thinking about Quadro p2000.I want my laptop to work only on discrete card without integrated gpu (like my m2200,it works fine in this mode, but i need more perfomance).Or,if i would buy "turing" t1000,what will be delay (input lag) in games?I understood it doesn't work without integrated Intel. My laptop's screen has refresh rate 60hz,so i'm using Vsinc also.
