That nets me the installshield exe which gives the same error, but i was able to get the msi by running the exe from the command line with the /x flag, and copying it from temp before selecting anything, but it looks like it has to be launched by the initial install shield exe, as it errors out saying that the wizard was interrupted. Was also able to find the drivers in the temp folder too, it seems it has an issue running the installer rather than extracting for some reason. Running the controlvault fw upgrade util after copying drivers it was complaining about gives an error of not being able to detect controlvault, and now i remember seeing sharpie on the board when swapping the cpu yesterday. I'm guessing the board was swapped with one that didn't have the chip (if it works that way, I'm not familiar with these high end dells) and they left the old palm rest with the two readers in place, seems I'm out of luck unless I can track down a board with it, or find the ic and solder it on myself

Does anyone know how to get the fingerprint/rfid readers working in windows 10/11? They both show up as unknown devices in device manager, and when i try to run the dell control vault driver installer, it cannot extract an msi file to get on with the install, with the controlvault firmware updater not being able to proceed either, since it can't find dlls related to the two devices installed. I might just try installing everything on windows 7, then updating from there.
