Is there any information somewhere on how to make a shunt mod for the GPU on the Neo 16/17 platform?
-
The problem was that the owner of the laptop was unable to correctly install the heatsink and achieve correct pressure on the CPU and GPU side. So he sawed it down the middle, thinking it would help. Of course, after that it only got worse temps, and the author decided that the whole problem was in the heatsink, but this is not at all the case. There is plenty of evidence that this heatsink copes well with hot CPUs, and there is no reason not to buy it. But the price for Aliexpress is very high; on Taobao it costs about $100.

@MiRaGe sent an invite on Discord 🙃

Yes, its a binned A-Die from HyperX Kit: KF564S38IBK2-32 I'll send you the timings a little later when I get to the laptop.

Memory Voltage: 1365 Memory Voltage VDDQ: 1350

Yes, but additional airflow is required to lower the temperature. I'm booting at 7000, but it's still very unstable.

The temperature results are impressive. Especially in terms of the CPU, but it is very sad that the CPU does not operate at full power (140W+) while simultaneously loading the GPU.

10 minutes is more than enough to understand how good (or bad) everything is. AIDA: Stress CPU+FPU+Cache Furmark: standart GPU Stress Test Button The only limiter in such a situation can only be the power supply)

pls

Cool, can you do a double stress test with Aida64 and Furmark? It's very interesting to see the result.

Nope, that a 16' model. I saw information that the 16" 2023 model is not suitable for upgrading to the new 2024 heatsink, but I'll try anyway.)

Yes, a challenge. My 170 had a custom liquid cooled heatsink with an external block with a 360mm radiator. I could easily cool 250W from the 2080S (shunt moded) and 180+ from the 10900K@5Ghz without any problems or noise. In the case of the GM6PX8, we are trapped - there is very little room for modifications. In addition, the side radiators are made of aluminum instead of copper, which is a terrible savings. Thin fans make an annoying sound at maximum speed. The water cooling loop only works on the GPU, the CPU is practically left without additional cooling. At the moment I am in the process of selecting the maximum UV values, overclocking the RAM, and am really looking forward to the opportunity to purchase a new heatsink from the 2024 model.

Hi, friend! I've been on GM6PX8 (Neo E23) + Prema mod for several months now. (as in signature) After x170 this is a real challenge in terms of temperatures and noise.((

This makes no sense, the curve in MSI AB is unique for each card.
-
@zex4 RS1 and RS2 in the second picture are what you need. There is no need to make this modification if you are not sure that you will do everything correctly. After hardware changes, you need to correctly configure the card consumption (voltage curve) in the MSI AB.
-
It is necessary to reduce the resistance on these resistors. In my case this was done by soldering a thin wire. (mgtf) The TDP approximately doubles, the adjustment is made by adjusting the curve in the MSI AB.

I did a shunt mod for mxm 2060, it was great)

@electrosoft this custom heatsink is almost a year old, as are custom fans for this model.

@MiRaGecan you test your card in superposition with 8k preset?
-
@Csupati which igzo 4k panel are you using?
