are on both - SP and TP - the fans off when doing light office/webbrowsing/playing a movie in low fan setting? does the 255H generate only half the heat as the 155H since the PL is doubled in low setting, and/or have the fans also been updated? do the fans have the same sound signature or the sp more high pitched? im thinking which one to buy for entertainment mainly, so no excessive power draws, and have to decide if the TP price upgrade would be worth it.. i guess also the sound is the same since the speakers look alike? or any differnece there?

i think the only unusual thing here is the 30cd/m minimum brightness that LG sets without any apparent reason. or can you tell me why? over the years i have never encountered a single manufacturer with this curiosity. these are useless in a dark room.

i wanted to buy a lg gram a long time, but the main thing that held me back is the very high minimum brightness of its screen. every year they keep using the same matte IPS screens with a minimum of 30cd/m (NBC reviews). since im using my laptop often in bed, thats a bummer and a no go. is there maybe any way to reduce this, i read about the advanced bios settings, is there an option for this? probably not, or a custom firmware or software to reduce the brightness even more? until this day a hve no clue why LG is doing this. there is no plausible reason. IPS displays can go as low es 2cd/m like seen with different Thinkpads for example.

remember you from NBR times, found your review here via KI.. thanks for this. im also thinking about buying a used 17z90rt, because it seems until today the only under 1kg 15", strangly enough. there are some ZT versions around, but the reflective screen is a no-go for me, so have to look for the first model with anti-reflection. how stupid, that they didnt use the same, obviously superior display of the RT in the following model. do you still have yours? 1.5 years later, how is it holding up, anything to ad to the review long term? cheers
