feet are wet in linux finally, just installed zorin 2 days ago. Im liking the IO speed as @Etern4l mentions. reasons I converted one of my 4tb drives was because now it will be used as my primary gaming OS as the experience is smoother on my omen, no microstutters and buttery smooth. grid autosport never dipping below 60 at 4k ultra is a perfect example whearas on windows constant lag spikes and hang ups. LINUX 4 THE WIN

so Installed proton and enabled compatability mod. bam 100s of games are now showing. also one major thing. I listen to alot of music and for some reason linux is exporting sound to my tv in dolby atmos or something of the like. it sounds alot clearer louder and feels like surround sound on my tv...first time this tv has seperated audio signals creating a 360 soundscape. 1) way better sound 2) smoother gaming 3) faster web browsing 4) cleaner than windows and completely customizable reasons im keeping linux. pity i still might have a use for windows 10/11 -

Ok funny. I adjusted power mizer and the performance profile in Linux and that was causing the error. Linux seems to command you to think and troubleshoot even uis like zorin. I'm afraid this os is far to complex but in a few years I should have a complete grasp -

Lol.har. I just decided to format 4tb and install zorin after a flawless grid session..that's all I really ask. No micro stutters lag or glitches. Linux seems to be more stable even though it's 20 percent slower. But navigating this thing scream like chrome os but so much better. Next experiment will be mac os..or maybe I'll pass..I would now like win11/zorin/chromeos triple boot.. Anyways I can't thank you enough. I respect your opinion and if it wasn't suggested by the right man I wouldn't have ever checked it out... -
Can a tablet replace an office laptop ? My journey.
ryan replied to Bullit's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
windows isnt designed to run on tablets. it wouldnt be good for productivity. I know we are entitled to our opinions but I have no idea why you or anyone would by a windows tablet, most illogical purchase ever. kinda like buying a tesla with a gas engine. -
i get that, just seems like alot...here I thought having 3 tvs was greedy..lol. I have a 3d tv a oled tv and a sony triluminos tv.. no need for anything else, but if i had a huge house id prob have 12 tvs also

Thanks gentlemen @Mr. Fox@Papusan. linux is perfect for alot of things, I don't think I can switch to just linux but it is nice having linux/win11 installed on same device. If I want to use my vr headset and stream with moonlight I can switch to windows 11. everything else linux. -

yes im half frustrated not knowing a thing but its satisfying when it works, having issues with wine and cinebenchr23 but ill figure it out I think it has something to do with user permissions or using x11 over wayland. ill try not to bug you about this as their is alot of resources online and this thread isnt about it. but are their any cpu benching apps that are good for linux...curious how my system performs on linux vs windose as ive always had issues with windows and my cpu. -

Linux has several advantages over Windows Open Source: Linux is open-source, allowing users to modify, study, or redistribute its source code. Security: Linux is considered more secure due to its architecture. Stability: Linux is known for its stability and reliability. Customization: Linux is highly customizable. Performance: Linux runs faster and is more responsive than Windows. open source is such a great option, had no idea it was safer than windows, feels like hackers paradise. having issues with gaming drivers but I take it its not for gaming much like chrome OS. faster, I can agree but at 4k im having issues, currently running 1440p -

zorin default wallpapers look really nice on my OLED the drivers seem to have default settings and on windows it was doing something that made the colors flat, always had to adjust. I just have a LG OLED it really is a game changer having oled. welp I reinstalled zorin its working ok, going to fiddle a bit but so far im in love its just great -

I botched my install by changing to defective nvidia drivers, have to start over...linux doesn't seem to play well with a 4k tv and 120hz through a 3060. unless its me, probably me. I can see why people like linux, reminds me of dos/windows7/and some chrome elements. very efficient OS. im going to take a break from it today as I dont need to troubleshoot as i pulled an allnighter with the new zorin -

First time on linux. Did a few things already, changed resolution to 4k/120, installed nvidia drivers, changed background. hearts pumping this is what iv'e wanted for 20 years and I finally checked it out. I actually made it a main boot OS as I have starting to get aggravated with windoze 11. Im officially either done with desktops/laptops or sticking with linux. I don't think ill ever go back to windows again. 4tb of holy grail. Big thanks @Mr. Foxand @Clamibot, and if eternal was here, him to as he preached about it also just ran a speedtest as that gives a good idea on systems network health before 900-1300 now with linux cpu in balanced scores the same as overclocked in windows 10 -

yeah its mostly pointless doing anything different. I personally never run max clocks while gaming, sometimes it helps but 99 percent of the time its too minute to notice. back in the day you could overclock a chip and see 50 percent gains. now you would need LN to see similar results and even then I highly doubt you would attain 50 percent increase with any sort of tweaking or overclocking. ram OCing however can sometimes help quite a bit, as im seeing with the 3060 many people are getting much higher scores with faster ram, more isnt better but the clock speed can play a large role in ocing gpu and cpu....but you all know this though. -
save your money...i think the sweet spot is 600-700 cad//i can/will help you find one in a couple weeks/ i would help more if i could..but the t590 is a nice laptop better than my vivobook 15x

Can a tablet replace an office laptop ? My journey.
ryan replied to Bullit's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
the nubia pad 3d is the best tablet allround right now based on specs performance and features, nothing comes close. some have faster processors and oled 144hz displays but everything as a whole, nothing is in its league -

zte redmagic pro incoming. looking good but not 900nits so its excluded..myself however am interested in the 3d version, looks like a good deal at 600 -
I was honestly thinking t590 or a dell anykind with 10th or 11th gen cpu(better integrated graphics) Lenovo ThinkPad T590 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 250nits Anti-Glare Display - Intel Core i5-8365U Processor with vPro, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe-NVMe SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Renewed) : Amazon.ca: Electronics pretty nice laptop.

yeah I am broke at the moment but as soon as i get some money im getting zorin, could actually be fun learning linux. and the reward? maybe even playing crysis on linux. im on assault right now(fav level) and I think much like electrosoft and wow ill be playing it for years to come. all we really need is say a windows 7 refresh and thats it everyone wins. why the hell not, wish someone would start a petition or something, like if a million or so people clammered together we could see windows 7.1 or something millions of people still view linux and windows 7 as the best OS, really sad that I put chrome on my vivobook and even sadder its functionality is better than that of windows 11. -

I actually bench more than I game. I dont think linux is good for benching. not on my computer a terrible amount, recently just for AI checking it out. otherwise its my 3d tablet im on really no need for anything else.. I would like to add I don't have the proper hardware for competitve benching, i mean my omens 3060 is the 115w version and unless im against other 115w benchers its pointless, i have the TDP modded and the highest ive seen is 9900 and considering the hardware I got it to where I want it. when I had the pred by acer with the 4080 it was power throttling and it was either the highest cpu or highest gpu score but not both. hardware plays a big role in the benching game. kinda like saying your a f1 driver and you show up to the races with a toyota corolla
