  1. I guess my next step is to finish backing up my files. Then, I'll open it up and check it physically. Maybe, a cord is lose? (Hopeful. 😅) And I may just re-paste the card while I'm at it. If neither of that seems to be the problem, I'll try doing a factory reset. Any ideas on why my RGB keyboard lights are having issues as well? Could the motherboard be affecting it? Have you heard of any other users having faulty graphics for the PowerSpec laptops? I'm really bummed since I was only able to use the card for about a year and a half. 😞
  2. Another note: I opened NVIDIA GeForce Experience. (I hadn't done it yet. I was worried it'd try to install the newest driver.) Once I logged in, it said I have no driver installed. 🤔 I decided to update my Intel to the newest driver. No problems there, but after...I noticed my NVIDIA card had a yellow caution sign next to it again, under Device Manager. I tried installing the newest driver for my NVIDIA card. When I rebooted, it had issues and went into "attempting to repair." I couldn't get it to boot, so I booted into Safe Mode and rolled back the NVIDIA driver to the factory driver. Both GPUS are back to showing no caution signs under Device Manager, but same issues with the NVIDIA card as before the boot error.
  3. Here's what it looks like with the static/artifacts: Both of my GPUs don't have caution signs next to them. Originally, it was my NVIDIA card that had a caution sign next to it. My Intel card says it's working properly, my monitor says it's working properly, but the NVIDIA card says a code 43 error.
  4. Oh, that's weird. Well, I decided to get the original factory installed driver from PowerSpec. I installed it, and the driver is working. My computer recognizes my GPU, but it still does = signs on the screen. Also, NVIDIA Control Center won't open. It says, "You are currently not using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU." I can use GeForce Experience again, so...I guess that's a plus. 🤔 I created a new thread for troubleshooting my GPU here: https://efgxt.net/topic/264-help-troubleshooting-my-powerspec-1510/
  5. I figured I'd create a new thread to get help troubleshooting my GPU and to keep my other thread free for that topic. I have a PowerSpec 1510 gaming laptop - aka Clevo P650HS-G. Long story short, my NVIDIA card (mobile GTX 1070) is not working. 😔 It stopped working after a build update around May/June 2019. (Some sort of big Windows Update/build update, I believe when they decided to change the Intel Drivers to DCH.) I wasn't able to roll back to a previous version right after the update for some dumb reason. Also, I wasn't able to seriously troubleshoot until late July 2019/August 2019. Since then, I've tried to fix it when I have the spare time. I'm not sure if it's fried, Windows is messing it up, or if it's somehow off the heat sink/coolant paste gone. I haven't checked on the GPU physically, since I need reference photos. (I did open it up and everything looked happy.) Another issue I've noticed in the last few months: my RGB keyboard lights don't seem to be right. The color doesn't coordinate with the color I choose in the program, and they are also sometimes very dim. Red is Red. White is Orange. Blue looks burnt out/very dim. Cyan looks like Cyan. Purple is Red. Yellow is Orange. Green is Green. Orange looks Dark Orange/Almost Red. A major concern I have is that there's something wrong with the motherboard. ☚ī¸ What I've done so far: 1. I've reinstalled the Intel and NVIDIA drivers with the most recent drivers. NVIDIA always ends up not working, even after trying DDU in safe mode. It screwed up so much that I couldn't even use NVIDIA GeForce Experience anymore or the Control Panel. I gave up for a while. 2. Per the suggestion in my other thread, I tried again - this time, using DDU in safe mode and installing the original NVIDIA driver (out-of-the-box driver) from PowerSpec. My card is recognized again, and I'm able to use GeForce. However, I still get dots/lines on my screen. I tried to take a screenshot, but my laptop saves it as looking normal. When I try to open NVIDIA Control Panel, I get: Through my research, I've found that the SvThANSP.sys driver can cause a lot of problems. I'm not sure what it's exactly for. There is a known issue with Clevo Control Center and the XTU driver. The recommended solution was to install CCC without the driver or use the CLEVO Drivers Update Utility by OBSIDIAN-PC to load CCC cleanly. However, I'm not sure how to do either. Any suggestions or ideas on what's going on would be appreciated.? Please help. 😭
  6. Update: When I tried to install the driver with NVCleanstall, my anti-virus detected threat W32.Adware.Gen. I didn't continue with the installation for obvious reasons. Should I just try to get the driver from NVIDIA or use the outdated driver from PowerSpec?
  7. It's been a while since I messed with fixing my laptop, so I don't remember. I'll give it another try and update if it works. I'd love to get my laptop fixed, if possible (without having to do a complete backup.) I found an old forum thread talking about the SvThANSP.sys driver causing a lot of problems. There is a known issue with ControlCenter and the XTU driver. He linked to an old NotebookReview Forums thread to install ControlCenter without the driver or using the CLEVO Drivers Update Utility by OBSIDIAN-PC to load ControlCenter cleanly. Unfortunately, I'll have to dig around on the archives on here to find those. If DDU doesn't work, I might try doing this.
  8. I searched Google for what happened. Came across this link under a post on macrumors.com (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/did-notebookreview-com-bite-the-dust.2331577/). Also, came across it on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/sa1wo2/notebookreview_forum_closing_down_on_31st_january/). I think word is trying to spread around. 😃👍
  9. I've still been trying to fix my Powerspec 1510 laptop with my gtx 1070 not working. I've tried and tried to get the newest driver to install with no success. My friend believes my GPU still works because Device Manager recognizes it. (I noticed it stopped working after a Windows build update in 2019.) The only possible fix that I've read is to do Windows recovery or try a factory reset. Unfortunately, that means I'll have to spend quite a bit of time backing up all of my files, etc. Anyway... I haven't had a desktop in a while, due to space constraints...but I've decided it's time. I've been looking at GPUs and could use advice on which to buy. I don't know much about the newer NVIDIA cards, and I've been trying to look at benchmarks and other content to compare them. As far as I've learned, the gtx 1660ti and gtx 1660super are relatively the same, with the ti performing slightly better and running slightly cooler. I've also read they're like the gtx 1070 with performance. I've read that the rtx 3060 is similar to the gtx 1080ti in performance. I've read that the rtx 2060 is like the 1660ti, so does it make sense to pay extra for the 2060? And what are the rtx 2070super and 3060ti comparable to? (In easy format: gtx 1660s < gtx 1660ti = rtx 2060 ; rtx 2070super = ?; rtx 3060 = gtx 1080ti ; rtx 3060ti = ? ) The price difference between the 1660ti and 1660super isn't that big; roughly, $10 - 50 difference depending on which I buy (MSI vs Asus vs Zotac, etc.) To get an rtx 2060, the cost is roughly $100 - $200 more (depending on brand.) The rtx 3060 comes in a bundle deal (with processor and chassis; says refurbished - does that mean the cards are refurbished too? I've never bought refurbished items before...) so the price isn't much different from the 2060. The rtx 2070super comes in a bundle deal too (also refurbished.) I think I've been looking at this stuff for too long today and getting dizzy from it all, so I'd like to hear suggestions. Thanks for the help! (Side note: Most of the GPUs come with processors, either i5-10th, 11th, or 12th gen or i7-10th, or Ryzen 5 or 7. I'm not sure if the processors will affect the GPUs performance significantly?)
  10. Hi, Thanks for trying to save the forum! Glad I found you all!
