  1. I found this fairly common during my stay in Texas. Saw a lady doing her makeup while driving 60mph on a highway (there was no autopilot back then). Talking on the phone super common. All of these things are banned in the UK, with AI cameras starting to police... Sounds like you are OK, that's the most important thing, but obviously sorry to hear. Annoying as hell.
  2. Twitter disbands Brussels office, prompting fears about online safety Digital policy executives’ departure elicits unease over adherence to EU rules on disinformation and hate speech Edit: on the bright side, Happy Thanksgiving US folks!
  3. Sorry to hear, hate car trouble.
  4. Sorry to hear. Customer support? TVs manufactured outside of the LG, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic cartel are probably a bit more of a gamble unfortunately.
  5. I think @Reciever & co. did a fantastic job with this, hopefully folks can spread the word whenever possible. Looks like the forum is increasingly popping up on google.
  6. Haha, sorry, teaches me for responding on the phone without glasses. 4MB/s is more respectable but still peanuts in many cases, and gosh forbid you start swapping - you'll go through that Samsung TBW allowance like a hot knife through butter. I guess what I'm saying is that it would be nice if Samsung could up this, as least on the Pro models. Alas, still 600TBW per 1TB on the 990 Pro.
  7. Isn't this just some sort of HWBOT / benching software issue? You should be able to disable the option, as if it didn't exist for your purposes. As per @Mr. Fox, if I understood correctly. At $2000 outside the US, I would proudly buy this card for professional purposes without a shade of shame. In fact, it's about the same price as A5000 while being significantly faster. The main downsides are the dimensions, 3 slot design and the wonky power adapter.
  8. Yeah, so obviously EDR is painful, but ECC should in theory have much less overhead, if any at all. Would be good to see some detailed benchmarks for the 3090Ti or 4090. Back in the day it wasn't very clear: https://www.techspot.com/article/845-ddr3-ram-vs-ecc-memory/ The fact that the ECC option exist is very appealing for professional applications, and makes sense given that these are "pseudo-Titan" class cards prosumers might like.
  9. OK, sounds bad from pure benching perspective, since presumably graphics benchchmarking software doesn't verify correctness of rendering (i.e. artefacts are fine as long as a run completes).
  10. Not really a desktop question, but it's a matter of compatibility with the particular laptop. Gskill can be more of a hit and miss. Usually can't go wrong with HyperX, but timings are more conservative. Ensure there is a good returns policy. Edit: apologies for the double-post. Spilt milk.
  11. Wouldn't ECC allow you to overclock higher without the risk of artifacting, as some minor ones might be autocorrected?
  12. Totallyy... I mean... Why the hell not, right?
  13. You don't necessarily need daily stand ups unless there is some sort of reason to promote communication that way, or if the effort is particularly collaborative and the n-n team communication would be happening anyway. Otherwise people end up standing there listening to info about other people's work, which may or may not be of immediate interest. Musk did start off in software although it was a tiny effort initially, and then at PayPal it seems like his grand vision to create an uber Internet bank didn't pan out and he moved on. In his own view, he is probably one of the best software development managers in the galaxy though.
  14. That's how I got caught out by Samsung's meager TBW. 30GB/day is not necessarily that much. Actually it works out to around... 340KB/s. Then I woke up with 100 TB written in a month lol. For light I/O use, gaming etc. people can rest assured their Samsung SSDs will hold up, otherwise it helps to actually spend a moment to estimate TBW based on projected usage. Frequent hibernation of a 32GB machine doesn't seem to be a problem, I've done it for years. Would be interesting to know why, a very fast compression algorithm is probably involved.
  15. Sorry, could you clarify which GeForce cards support ECC, and how to enable this?
  16. This is what someone rational would do if they wanted to drive everyone out of the company. He probably just wishes to weed out sub-standard coders, but the question is will any top coders remaining also be happy to put up with all this for some reason, or will only true Musk-lovers (probably not too many of those at Twitter) remain. Perhaps that's actually the idea.
  17. Weekly status reports are not too uncommon, and probably reasonable enough. At one point daily morning stand ups were all the rage as being "agile", I presume the practice mostly shared the fate of pair programming. Of course, if Musk is asking to be copied on all the reports that's another sign of madness and toxicity.
  18. The council was part of a deal he made with an unnamed “large coalition of political/social activist groups,” Wow, I'm intrigued. What coalition was that? Although, you know - forget it, the bots have spoken after all.
  19. GeekBench 5 has its uses, but the main one is that its cross platform and tests GPUs a bit. The whole test barely fits within a boost period of macbook, before it inevitably starts throttling. I've noticed a lot of variance in the results due to the short duration.
  20. At the bottom there is a Theme dropdown, click and select Dark.
  21. On your video you seem to be showing 6.1GHz on all but one core (that's 58x) while running CB. Something's broken with the sound ATM, so can't hear what you're saying. Anyway, even 5.8GHz on all cores would be great in my little book. Curious how well that would do in Blender at least. Takes just a moment to install and not that long to run, same for IndigoBench actually.
  22. Planning to try that, I think I may have thermal headroom. For now just need to hold my horses and check if 55x is stable. Very happy with the repaste so far - clearly better than SYY. I couldn't get 55x stable before (with UV). Once everything tests out over the next few days, I will post separately to warn people against this pseudo-paste. BTW With 61x P-Cores, how badly do you beat these Indigo Bench 4.4.15 and Blender 3.3.0 scores? IndigoBench:
