  1. What about MSI afterburner? I used it with K2100 and now with M2200.
  2. Thanks! I wonder, why various searches don't spit this card back? I would think T2000 is still nicer (could be downclocked likely), with the better thermal pad that was discussed in this forum.
  3. I have looked for T1000 and T2000 MXM 3.0A around USA (ebay, amazon, simple google searches) and haven't come up with anything quite a few times 😞
  4. BTW, there's something important to look into: a size of the copper sink element vs. Actual chip placement and size.
  5. I went with Gelid Ultimate 1.5mm and replaced all the pads on CPU and GPU heatsinks. It's a known fact that better thermal pads can actually worsen CPU/GPU temperature due to a higher heat influx into the (rather limited) heatsink. Which can experience, due to the carbon-based high thermal conductance pads Zezzio. My peak thermals are 80-85C for GPU and 90-95C for CPU (throttles) under stress tests and I recall when I repasted it upon purchase (but didn't replace tpads) CPU didn't hit throttling, which was pretty impressive, given FEA analysis I did back then. Something else to consider: I bought a set of matched fans, with some sort of advanced bearings (they are somewhere in a drawer), maybe they are better than the stock ones?
  6. Thank you. Did you actually measure the original one? 1.5mm had a slight impression on them during intermediate reassembly, and the original pads had some good impressions. A1000/A2000 would be even a better upgrade, but I presume we won't see them at a reasonable price for quite some time.
  7. Guys, did you change stock thermal pads on cpu and gpu vrm/memory? Just wanted to make sure 1.5mm is of the right thickness. My thermals aren't the best right now, after prolimatech pk3 and gelid pads.
  8. So far, the M2200 (got it for $100 a while ago) proved to be a substantial improvement over K2100 and it seems like M4800 (and probably M6800 for that matter) can be made quite useful even further - the SSD can be expanded to 2+8+8TB. Since GPU is used in both work and entertainment this is a single incredible performance upgrade. We don't see this to be possible in notebooks world that often. Now I'm curious about T1000, T2000, A1000 and A2000. Although, they are hard to find in MXM A form (please share if you know where they can be found and if they are compatible). There are some ridiculous $$ offers targeted at embedded applications. I haven't seen any of them with X-bracket depicted, probably worth looking into. I will get Honeywell PTM7950 for CPU and GPU, and maybe new GPU/SSDs. I already got new back plate, palm rest, bezels and it looks pretty clean now. Insofar, the disappointing limitation is... DP1.2, since Haswell DP is limited by 540MHz clock and 4k&60Hz&8bits is 533MHz. I have a S95B QDOLED with 4k 144Hz 444 10bit and am limited by 4&60&8bit, 1440p60 and 1080p144. 144 is silky smooth. Surely, M2200 will not run a lot of titles well with 4k & 120/144, but even newer cards will be still limited by DP 1.2.
  9. Curiously, I've tried to install Nvidia drivers for quadro... and it did just work. Pheeeew. In the process I got some nerves prematurely dead and a A26 firmware installed (where I had to go back and install K2100, get machine going, then get M2200 back). Aaron, thanks for your quick response and help. Although, M2200 behaves differently when it comes to what video modes are visible/work.
  10. Gentlemen, may I ask for a bit of help? Just installed M2200M into M4800 with 4k display, instead of an older Kepler card. BIOS doesn't recognize it (I take this is normal) and windows refused to boot normally - I had to uninstall the nvidia driver while being in a safe more. BIOS version is A25. Now, once nvidia driver was uninstalled, the LCD works fine and windows 10 boots fine, but the video card reported as a basic Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Any ideas on the best course of action? I recall there was a firmware update for the vcard (I have it stored somewhere) and video driver modifications (which I hoped to avoid). Thanks & Regards, Mikhail
