  1. After using the unlocked version 1.07.08 for years, I need to lock it again, before sending the computer in for service. I tried the procedure, selecting item 2 "relock", but it doesn't work, the BIOS remains unlocked. Any possible solution?
  2. I tried a "BIOS defult" but this didn't resolve the problem. I will try a complete reinstallation of original BIOS 1.07.08 (latest BIOS that I have, download from Clevo website years ago) πŸ€”
  3. Thank you. Unfortunately, for the X170KM-G, I saw that it is not very updated, the latest BIOS available is 1.07.07, while on the official website (when you could still download BIOS), I had downloaded 1.07.08, and currently XMG has published 1.07.09 (so evidently the official version of version 1.07.09 should exist). However, I am resigning myself to sending the computer for repair, the only way to make it pass the POST is to remove all the SSD units, or leave one and try turning it off and on many times, or with 2 SSD units connected, the probability that it passes the POST is perhaps 1 in 50.
  4. Unfortunately XMG customize the BIOS, it is not "original", but in the absence of anything else I can try that. I used to find the BIOS on the official CLEVO website, but now they are no longer present. I have currently been using version 1.07.08 modified to have the complete menus for years, and it works perfectly. A problem has been occurring for a few days, the computer often does not pass the POST, it remains blocked, and I have to turn it off and on several times, until it goes forward. During the POST, the RAM test (very long, for 64GB), is regularly passed. Initially I thought the cause was a damaged SSD, in fact when I removed it then the computer started regularly. Therefore I changed the SSD, finding that it shows the problem even with the new one. The problem rarely occurs if I leave only one SSD (regardless of which one it is and which slot it occupies), while it is practically constant if I insert both SSDs, regardless of which slots I use (I tested by swapping the 2 SSDs in the 4 slots) Therefore, the BIOS update is the last resort, but I am skeptical that it will solve anything. Has anyone ever had a similar problem?
  5. Where can I find the official BIOS? In the Clevo sites where I searched there are various drivers (very old) but not the BIOS (years ago it was present instead) πŸ€”
  6. 2x32GB @3200MHz (CL16) work perfectly only with unlocked bios, setting the XMP profile πŸ™‚
  7. Unfortunately yesterday there were two sudden shutdowns. Therefore, in my case, disabling C-States seems to have only affected the BSODs when I enable Overclocking mode in BIOS, in fact at the moment no BSODs happen anymore, but sudden shutdowns still happen. As soon as possible I will install the EC kindly indicated by Sergey Muratov, to see if it only solves the problem of restarting after sudden shutdown, or it also avoids sudden shutdown
  8. Excuse me, I hadn't read your post. I don't use the battery, but I think the problem is the same, since I have to electrically disconnect the computer, to be able to rekindle it. I will try to install the EC version indicated (now I am using the official 1.07.04), but this is a secondary problem, the primary problem is that it suddenly turns off. However, I disabled C-State, and for a few days no sudden shutdown has been verified, and not even BSOD despite having tried to enable the overlclocking mode in the BIOS, in order to use the XMP profile of the RAM (3200 MHz CL16)
  9. Currently the Ram (2x32 GB) are installed in the bottom of the computer, installing them under the headboard solves the Windows BSOD problem when overclocking is activated in the bios? Instead, as regards BIOS and EC, they are both updated to the latest official version😐
  10. There are actually two types of problems: - BSOD when overclocking mode is activated in the BIOS, and then the relative tile appears in the Control Center, but no "hardware problem", the computer restarts perfectly (I solved it by not enabling overlocking from the BIOS πŸ˜’) - Abrupt physical shutdown, with no errors in the OS (which is what has been happening to me lately), and then the computer doesn't turn back on, until after unplugging and plugging the power again If I remember correctly, did you have the first type of problem? Or am I wrong?😐
  11. After months of good operation, sudden shutdowns are happening these days while I play with full screen games. The strange thing is that it's impossible for the temperatures to be high, I'm playing with the "quiet" energy profile (the game, Fallout 76, doesn't respond well to commands if the FPS is very high, so if the computer runs at full speed), and fans on personalized, but following the predefined profile, therefore already with a temperature of 50Β°C they turn at 50% of the speed. While gaming, I don't hear the fans spinning fast, so temperatures should be cool. Well, every now and then, a sudden shutdown occurs, and the computer doesn't turn back on again, if I try to turn it on again, the power LED turns green for a few moments, and then turns orange again. it is necessary to switch off the computer by disconnecting the electric cable, switch it on again, and only at this point can it be switched on. Is there any way to try to avoid these sudden shutdowns?
  12. I will try this setting, to see if it solves the problem πŸ˜‰ Problem which however, in my case, is caused by the Control Center, i.e. when I activate the overclock in the BIOS, the "overclock" tile appears in the Control Center, and this component causes the Windows BSOD. Without Control Center no BSOD occurs
  13. So, if I disable this setting no more BSOD's occur when overclocking is enabled? (although not actually used)? ThanksπŸ˜‰
  14. It happened to me too, I seem to remember that I solved it by saving, restarting, entering the bios again, and this time you can select the XMP1 profile
  15. In fact, just because they have the same hardware I tried the XMG BIOS but without solving the problem, so I went back to the official Insyde BIOSπŸ˜” Hopefully they can fix it πŸ˜‰
  16. I have the original Insyde BIOS (I didn't buy the XMG notebook), but when I temporarily tried an XMG BIOS months ago, the problem was there too. Is the only solution then to uninstall the Control Center? Maybe I could then install the separate packages (LED and OSD control), I saw them on the Microsoft Store, but I haven't tried if that fixes the problem.
  17. Is there any solution? πŸ˜“ I have the 11th (11900k)
  18. In my case it's slightly different, crashes (BSOD) only happen if I activate "Overclocking" in the BIOS, and therefore the "Overclocking CPU" tile appears in the "Control Center". If I don't have the "Overlocking CPU" tile in the "Control Center", everything works fine. Of course, no overclocking, just enable the feature in the BIOS and the "Control Center" causes a BSOD. This happens to me with the 3-4 BIOS versions tested so far with the various updates, with various versions of EC, and with various versions of the "Control Center" πŸ˜‘
  19. Even mine, very rarely, when I'm playing it can happen that it suddenly shuts down (no overclocking and "entertainment" energy profile). When I then try to turn it on again, the power LED turns green for a few seconds, and then turns orange again, and the computer shows no signs of life, the fans do not start. To make it turn on again, it is necessary to unplug it for a few seconds, and only then does it turn on again normally πŸ˜‘ I decided to give up the XMP profile for the 3200 Mhz CL16 RAM, as using it was necessary to activate "overclocking" in the BIOS, and when this happens the "Control Center" shows the "CPU Overclocking" tile and occasionally causes a BSOD (also if I don't change any frequency, then no real overclocking). If I do not activate Overclocking in the BIOS, the Control Center does not show the "CPU Overclocking" tile and no BSOD occurs πŸ˜‘
  20. It works perfectly, and the rams work at 3200 Mhz CL16. However, the problem is related to the Control Center application. In order to activate the XMP profile, the overclocking mode must be activated in the BIOS. And when you activate the overclocking mode in the BIOS, the Control Center application shows the tile "CPU Overclocking", and by chance, fortunately rarely, a BSOD occurs πŸ˜”(related to the executable "CC30_BG.EXE"). This happens to me with any BIOS version I've tried (and since I bought the computer I've tried them all), and with any version of the Control Center (now I'm using v3.99). Of course, even with the locked BIOS (I unlocked it only a month ago). And I've never overclocked anything, just turning overclocking mode on causes BSOD, even if you don't actually change any frequency or setting.
  21. In my computer I have a problem since I just bought it, with any BIOS version I tried (all official updates or XMG) and with any version of the Software Control Center (now I'm using v3.99). When I activate the Overclocking mode in the BIOS, and then the related "CPU Overclocking" tile appears in the Software Control Center, random BSODs occur, even if I don't change any settings, so I don't apply any overclocking, but I keep everything by default. The component causing the BSOD is CC30_BG.EXE. If I disable the Overclocking function in the BIOS, and therefore the "CPU Overclocking" tile does NOT appear in the Control Center software, never any BSOD. Is there any solution to be able to enable Overclocking in the BIOS without giving up the Control Center software, and without suffering random BSOD? Thanks to the instructions of this Thread (by Viktor) I managed to unlock the BIOS and activate the XMP profile for the RAM, but in order to access this function in the BIOS I have to activate "Overclocking" in the BIOS. If I activate Overclocking in BIOS, the Control Center software shows the "CPU Overclocking" tile, and here are the random BSODs πŸ˜‘

  23. Hi everyone, I finally decided to register to the forum, after following it for months (I'm a former Notebookreview user). I have a Clevo X170KM-G, with 11900K processor, 64 GB RAM Ballistix 3200 Mhz CL16, Nvidia RTX 3080 16 GB. Thank you all in advance for the great content in this thread ☺️ With your utility to unlock the bios I solved a problem I had since the purchase (more than a year), and the seller has never been able to help me, my Ballistix RAMs operated at 2666 Mhz CL19 (Jedec profile #9) , instead after unlocking the BIOS I finally managed to activate the XMP profile (3200 Mhz CL16). I wanted to thank you very much for the work you have done πŸ™‚ I also tried to use the dual video card, but unfortunately even following your instructions the two video cards do not work properly together. 1. I activated "integrated GPU Only" and installed the igpu drivers, both video cards appeared in the device list, both video cards work fine, but the nVidia card loses G-Sync functionality (because the monitor is connected to the integrated card in the CPU, and in the nVidia control panel 2/3 of the settings disappear). Apart from this limitation, everything else works with 2 GPUs. 2. I set "only the discrete gpu" again in BIOS, and in the device list the Intel video card disappeared, as if it never existed, then the drivers give an error message because they can't find the hardware. But the Nvidia card has full functionality again (G-Sync working). 3. I also tried the MSHybrid setting, it works like with "integrated GPU Only" (point 1). Therefore, I haven't found a way to have both graphics cards without having to give up G-Sync πŸ˜”
  24. I've been following this forum for some time, but I finally decided to register. I am a former member of Notebookreview. I have a Clevo X170KM-G, as a leisure notebook (my second Clevo notebook), and a Tongfan PF4MN2F as a work computer. (I work as an IT manager in a company, and since I was a child I have had the hobby of information technology) Congratulations for the excellent contents, which have allowed me to solve more than one problem on my Clevo. See you around πŸ˜€
