is it safer than liquid metal though? i fried my motherboard with that

It should be safe once in place but you have to be careful to assure it stays in place while mounting the heatsink. In my testing (air only) I was not happy with the performance of these sheets compared to my phase change solution so I only use them for testing and nothing else.

If you feel uneasy about conductive TIM then use PTM7950 pads - non-conductive, great longevity and great temperatures:

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ptm7950

I have not seen degradation since the first units I used them for - no pump-out, no drying out.

Hello guys,

I have a problem from some time with fps with more demanding titles. I don't see any problem with GPU overheating. During the becnhmark test, it shows maximum values of 66 degrees, but I suspect that the problem may be with the vrams.

When I last opened the case, I found out that the thermal pads for the vrams were gone. I didn't have any thermal pads at this point, so I applied some thermal paste to the area.I don't know whether the temperature sensors in this GPU show the temperature value only for the center of the GPU or whether they also take into account VRAM temperatures. For now, there is only thermal paste on the sectors marked in red.

https://ibb.co/WW1GxZHq - screenshot form apex legends because I could not uploaded it to the post

For example in apex legends I used to have stable 144fps. Now for more demanding places when I look at the city where lots of textures are loading because of bad optimization I have like 35fps.

I even ask friend of mine which has worse CPU and rtx 2080 super (dekstop) and he has in same scenarios around 150-200fps. So it has to be something with my system. I also
- reinstaled windows
- done lots of optimization with settings for FPS
- instaled different types of drivers (older/newest)
- made memtest86 and passed w/o errors

- made stress test for GPU and CPU - passed w/o errors and thermal throttling

Also in new titles like Marvel Rivals (everything on low) I have like 40-60fps.

But for example in older titles like CS2 or Valorant I have easy 200fps+.

I would like to ask if someone with this laptop could take a 3D Time Spy Extreme benchmark test to compare results for same parameters of GPU and CPU?

My CPU clock is 4,4Ghz, Core Voltage Offset -0,110V Processor Core IccMax 255,75A.
My GPU Core Clock is on +175Mhz, Memory Clock + 1000Mhz.

I have already ordered new Thermalpads but it would be nice if someone confirmed my concerns about the current problem.

Hi,

Easy.... (X170KM-G RTX 3080) T.pad size.

I did it this way for both water cooling and the factory KM-G cooling and I use it without any problems. -UP- I recommend a forum member's writing to your attention, use it!

I can't test TimeSpy because the KM-G board hasn't been installed yet to replace the SM-G board, and the i9 processor doesn't work in that SM-G board, currently the i7-10700 works without any problems.

Ok thank you very much. Can you tell me why there are slight differences in thickness of your thermal pads and those in 1st post:
image.png.d270d9a00e08359f9f14cf63ac9ae2c4.png

and in smoothinize's post:

I guess in both scenarios it will work but maybe there is something behind this, let me know.

Your GPU scores is slightly better then mine but it probably caused by faster CPU clock. Your was 4.9Ghz and mine was 4.4Ghz.

x170's heatsink tolerances are shit, you are far better off using putty and ptm, than sticking with pads. Or do what ztec did, which is LM and k5pro ( sewing off the fourth cpu screw, replace them with 2.5 x10 + washers), bit messier and k5 is less performant than many if not most putties, and with LM you have to be even more careful with tolerances and ofc not touching any conductive bit.

I have an important question too.
I have two monitors (240Hz and 144Hz) and the only question would be which one is compatible with the X170KM-G motherboard? Which would definitely have G-Sync!

Monitor type:

B173HAN05.0 (240Hz PCSpecialist UK X170SM-G Original Display G-Sync ON this RTX 2080 Super with card)

LP173WFG-SPB1 (144Hz zTecpc USA X170SM-G Original Display G-Sync ON this RTX 2080 Super with card)

The question is, which of the two would have G-Sync with the KM-G motherboard?😗

In addition to the 144Hz, I would install the KM-G board instead of the SM-G motherboard, because the SM-G board is "defective" (it doesn't support K processors, tested with 10700K and 10900K processors)

I'll probably find out when I install that motherboard.
I don't even know what BIOS that board will have...

Hi all, new here. After giving up on Control Center's inability to play nice with W10's power plans, I've finally regained control of my fans with this, but haven't been able to do the same for the LEDs. All I want is to turn off the blue LEDs, I don't care about flashy RGBs or zones. OpenRGB doesn't support this platform apparently. Has anyone been able to take control of their LEDs on a KM-G with a different tool?

Thanks!

so i put the kryosheets in, the cpu desktop temps are sitting in the low 80s to high 70s at full fan speed as i monitor with the control center 3.0 program. and the ingame temps are still fluctuating between 101 and 88. it averages a bit lower on stress but otherwise, slight improvements i see but it still isnt the best and i made that stuff flush.

As far as I know, the KM-G version didn't get it because it wasn't finished.😌☺️

been wondering for a while if that was possible, did you simply do a swap of cards? how's the performance?

Yep, straight swap. Driver automatically installed by Windows but I opted to get the drivers from Intel. I can't tell if there's some changes in performance since I still use WiFi 6 router, will see when the Velop Pro 7 arrives.
