Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my KM1 heatsink to a TM1. Anyone have a CPU bracket they are willing to part with? I would really like to avoid sawing off standoffs if I can avoid it.

I talked to upgradeyourlaptop (which I think is Eurocom on Ebay, not sure though) and they said they did have some of the TM backplates. They didn't give me a price as I cannot buy one right now, but they told me they have some in stock. Message them saying someone else who has talked to them about the backplates recently sent you so they aren't confused.

Did Upgradeyourlaptop ever get back to you if you don't mind me asking?

Oh right that they did, the parts should be coming Thursday. Decided to get the heatsink/fan and the bracket from them. Thanks for putting me onto them! Now to decide on the date for the operation 🤓.

Speaking of which, looking at the screws on my current backplate I assume that I need a torx driver to get them off. Question is which size?

Nice, I'm glad you got it!

If you have a screw bit set, just eyeball it. I've taken an LGA 1151 mounting bracket off with a very basic bit set.

Also, would you mind telling me how much they charged you for the plate? I forgot to ask them.

Hmmm, I'd rather not spend 166 on a bracket, I may just cut my own. Glad you got yours though!

Speaking of brackets, hair dryer or heat gun to remove?

I would go with a hair dryer, Maytee used one in his old thread and said it worked fine, just be sure to keep moving it around a bit as to not overheat other things on the motherboard.

Hair dryer. You need to heat up glue not to melt solder😁

Planning to perform the mod this weekend, so we'll see how it all goes.

How did you preserve the screw threads, if you needed to? Also your GPU undervolt intrigues me.

1. If you cut  with a dremel the screw threads remain unaffected. Vey important after you cut is to fine sandpaper them on a flat surface to even all the legs out. Check this pic for reference: 9DaSKcH.jpg

2. On the undervolt will come back to you with a screen shot when possible.
