Light
The front glass on my xps 15 touchscreen has a crack that runs all the way across from one side to the other. It works fine and straight on the image quality is perfect, but viewed from an angle you can see the glass edge on the curved crack. I suppose there is no way to replace this glass - is it integrated into the panel?
Aaron44126
Normally the touchscreen glass is not easily separable from the panel; the glass, digitizer, and display panel are adhered together. You'd probably have to replace the entire display enclosure with panel included. 1 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) • Dell Precision 7560 (work) • Full specs in spoiler block below Info posts (Windows) — Turbo boost toggle • The problem with Windows 11 • About Windows 10/11 LTSC Spoiler Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) M2 Max 4 efficiency cores 8 performance cores 38-core Apple GPU 96GB LPDDR5-6400 8TB SSD macOS 15 "Sequoia" 16.2" 3456×2234 120 Hz mini-LED ProMotion display Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3 99.6Wh battery 1080p webcam Fingerprint reader Also — iPhone 12 Pro 512GB, Apple Watch Series 8 Dell Precision 7560 (work) Intel Xeon W-11955M ("Tiger Lake") 8×2.6 GHz base, 5.0 GHz turbo, hyperthreading ("Willow Cove") 64GB DDR4-3200 ECC NVIDIA RTX A2000 4GB Storage: 512GB system drive (Micron 2300) 4TB additional storage (Sabrent Rocket Q4) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 15.6" 3940×2160 IPS display Intel Wi-Fi AX210 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3) 95Wh battery 720p IR webcam Fingerprint reader Previous Dell Precision 7770, 7530, 7510, M4800, M6700 Dell Latitude E6520 Dell Inspiron 1720, 5150 Dell Latitude CPi
astrohip
I just replaced the screen in an XPS 13 2-in-1. I had a local laptop repair shop do it. It was quicker and less expensive than I thought it would be. I believe they replaced the entire panel, as @Aaron44126alludes to in his post above. 1 XPS 17, 64GB RAM, 2 4TB SSD
Light
Thanks guys! I don't have a repair shop around me, but it looks like I can get a replacement panel new on amazon for $350 or used on ebay for $125. I found a video on youtube I can follow (have to repaste the cpu to do the screen swap, but should be doable in an hour or so.) It's still functioning perfectly right now, but the crack probably suggests that it won't forever... so might as well do it while parts are still available.
kojack
I just replaced the touchscreen on my son's Inspiron 5368. It was easy and took me about 30 mins. It's working perfect and have no issues with it at all. I would spend the extra and buy direct from dell however. The aftermarket parts are not to the quality. I ordered a base cover for my notebook and it never fit correctly and was the wrong color. I ordered the screen and the correct bottom and they both fit perfect. Buy your parts from dell. 1 Workstation - Dell XPS 8940 - desktop creative powerhouse Mobile Workstation - Dell inspiron 5406 2 in 1 - mobile creative beast Wifey's Notebook - Dell inspiron 3169 - Little gem for our businesses
