7760 hibernating no matter what I do

Can't get my 7760 to stop from going into some kind of deep sleep mode, not sure if its hibernating or something else. I have all OS and BIOS settings switched to off.  Strangely enough if I remove the 30 min monitor sleep function the laptop does not go into this sleep mode.  Did a clean install of the OS about a month ago, it started soon after that.  Any advice is appreciated.

Is this docked or not docked?  Regular power brick for power?  Does the system note battery fully charged?  What OS?
  What are the power settings for quick start (enabled or not) and sleep settings?   What bios version?   What are the bios settings you have off?

If turning off the setting to "turn off the monitor" fixes this, I wonder if there is something going on with the GPU driver that is causing it die or fail to wake back up when the monitor goes to sleep.

 

I could suggest things like...

• Make sure that you are using the current Intel GPU and NVIDIA GPU drivers (I'd start with the ones from Dell, not the ones from upstream).
• In the BIOS setup, turn switchable graphics off if it is on or vice versa, to see if the behavior changes.

Not docked, on AC 24/7 using DELL provided brick, system is at 100% charge, Win 10 pro, BIOS 1.26.0, S3 in BIOS shut off, all OS sleep settings are off except the monitor sleep at 30 minutes.

I am using the Nvidia drivers and not the DELL drivers, I'll try a clean install of the DELL ones.  This is an RTX 4000.

Is it that the monitor is shutting off or going to sleep?  After re-reading sounds like it is the monitor is not coming back after the 30 minute time out but if you turn that setting off the monitors stays on.  What if you set it to 45 minutes?

 

If enable Hybrid graphics is on, did you install the intel driver first then the Nvida driver?  I recall seeing that the intel driver had to be installed first.  Probably not the issue, but something else to try.

Hybrid graphics is disabled completely. My ext monitor is sleeping, not sure about the laptop display. I was just in BIOS and I noticed that all of the C-States are enabled, not sure of those need to be shut off. I have not tried setting the monitor sleep to another number, will try that today.

Have you tried with just laptop display?

So it looks like it was the video driver. I was using the generic one from Nivdia and not DELL.

Makes sense, hopefully NVIDIA fixes it in their version soon.

 

...Though more recently I've preferred to just stick with Dell's drivers to reduce the chance of trouble.  There isn't often a new feature in NVIDIA's drivers that I can't wait a few months for.

 

Kind of sad how "house of cards" the whole driver situation on these laptops has been recently.  On top of issues with the NVIDIA driver (this, plus the NVPCF.sys BSOD thing which several users have run into over in the main 7X60 thread), I've been fighting with an audio driver issue with my Precision 7560.  It periodically decides that it's not going to pay attention when I plug something into the 3.5mm audio jack (leading to a few minutes of hassle while I try to join a work video conference using my headset), and when it decides to be this way I can't find any way to "fix" it other than a full reboot.  I guess I'm moving to USB audio full-time.

My Lenovo P17 Gen II has been worse, but agree that these Precision Mobiles have had a fair share of driver issues the last few years.
