I tapped into a 19/20V blank pad on the motherboard and did the resistor mod. It performed admirably. It, like the 2080 is running external power and resistance mod. I need a power cable and can only find for the Clevo cards they will not fit the GTX 1080 card and how do I match up to plug into the MoBo? I'd have to check what the plug type was called, I have it written down somewhere. I'm using a blank pad on the motherboard not a plug. The Aetina pinout is simple. If needed I can provide that I'd just have to open my r4. @aldarxt 1 Spoiler Alienware 18 R1 / xR3: 4940MX-4.3GHz / RTX 5000 - 16GB / RTX 2080 🙂 Alienware M17x R5 (Ranger): 4940MX 4.35 GHz / RTX 4000. The blank still has voltage in the circuitry and as @runix18 says I understand it's critical to check the pin layout, Thanks Guys I saw a cable on eBay but he wants too much for shipping and I ended buying a RTX 3080 for my Clevo 22 hours ago, runix18 said: It is imperative to check with a multimeter the pin layout to not mix gorund with source, as that will result in a dead core. Derpmaster69
How did you get the RTX 2080 to work in an AW18? Was it the Clevo or the MSI? You must've had modified the heatsink right?

I used an MSI 2080, all my images are gone now apparently. But yeah- you have to absolutely modify the ever loving snot out of the heatsinks or do what I did and have one custom machined to fit / or have the equipment to do so in my case. That's why I wanted my case to still be able to be closed so I created a dual slot GPU heatsink utilizing the second blank heatsink and fan. Resulted in 39 to mid 20°c at idle. And I was still able to cool my m.2 8tb nvme SSD. 1 1 Spoiler Alienware 18 R1 / xR3: 4940MX-4.3GHz / RTX 5000 - 16GB / RTX 2080 🙂 Alienware M17x R5 (Ranger): 4940MX 4.35 GHz / RTX 4000.
