I do. Code 43 usually in my experience means a physical problem. Is the dye in tact? I tapped into a 19/20V blank pad on the motherboard and did the resistor mod. It performed admirably. It, like the 2080 is running external power and resistance mod.

I need a power cable and can only find for the Clevo cards they will not fit the GTX 1080 card and how do I match up to plug into the MoBo? I do see a plug here but have no idea what its for or how to match up a cable

This intrigues me greatly, I have been on the fence about getting an RTX 3080 for my Clevo since it doesnt have external power

Frankly I'd rather have external power than force that much through the traces. That worries me a little. I could be paranoid. Who knows.

The Aetina doesn't use any connector from clevo or anything like that. It's just a standard 4 pin. I'd have to check what the plug type was called, I have it written down somewhere.

I'm using a blank pad on the motherboard not a plug. Soldered directly.

The Aetina  Gtx 1080 card has the same conector as the Clevo 980DT (200W) card. You can easily check with a multimeter that 2 of the pins are ground and the other two connects directly to 19V power suply.

Shows what I know about clevo. I was thinking about their lower profile connectors. My mistake. 🙂 thanks for the clarification.

It is imperative to check with a multimeter the pin layout to not mix gorund with source, as that will result in a dead core.

You can draw power directly from the DC in mosfets (19.5 V).

Better idea is not go through a mosfet. Go through a blank capacitor pad and solder to the positive. Which is 19/20v. The Aetina pinout is simple. If needed I can provide that I'd just have to open my r4. @aldarxt

Yeah I like the idea of a blank capacitor pad than an existing mosfet. The blank still has voltage in the circuitry and as @runix18 says I understand it's critical to check the pin layout, Thanks Guys I saw a cable on eBay but he wants too much for shipping and I ended buying a RTX 3080 for my Clevo

Thanks, It will be a while before I play around with the GTX 1080, I picked up a RTX 3080 for the P870DM3-G, the seller has more and I'm suprised you sold yours.

Yea, I went desktop route as Clevo has nothing more to offer since going BGA turdblock.

Yeah, It's a sad road we're on with laptops, I'm glad I don't NEED to have the latest cutting edge tech, and this is just a hobby for me, so I can deal with older, slower and obsolete LOL

Tbh, I needed only gaming, and for that part the good old Clevo still performed flawlessly at FHD, but beeing so dissapointed by the current gen Clevo, I decided to go Desktop as I also have no need for mobility in the forseeable future.

How did you get the RTX 2080 to work in an AW18? Was it the Clevo or the MSI? You must've had modified the heatsink right?

Clevo does not directly work with the alien. It like the Lenovo machines need extensive repinning or is straight impossible to make work. I used an MSI 2080, all my images are gone now apparently. But yeah- you have to absolutely modify the ever loving snot out of the heatsinks or do what I did and have one custom machined to fit / or have the equipment to do so in my case. That's why I wanted my case to still be able to be closed so I created a dual slot GPU heatsink utilizing the second blank heatsink and fan. Resulted in 39 to mid 20°c at idle. And I was still able to cool my m.2 8tb nvme SSD.
