Can't adjust brightness

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am not able to adjust the laptop screen brightness - I have tried the keyboard keys, the mobility center, the display setting, the NVIDIA control panel... nothing I do works. The screen is pegged at 100% and is over saturated, not sure how. Thoughts?

DPM 7760, Win 10 Pro, switchable graphics off.

Works fine for me with Precision 7560, also switchable graphics off.

What NVIDIA driver are you using?  I've heard other mentions before that screen brightness can break if you use the "upstream" driver (i.e. from NVIDIA's web site) rather than the driver from Dell.

You can also set the screen brightness in BIOS setup.  Clunky but I think it should stick when Windows boots up?

I am running version 552.55 directly from NVIDIA and it works with all Dell Precision 7XX0 models.

Why just uninstall current driver with DDU and install the driver what you want to use.

Sometimes the drivers just stop working or some feature has problems. Reinstallation or upgrade helps.

Intel UHD Graphics driver is 31.0.101.5333.

Does the resolution change work?

BIOS adjustment works, and updated drivers with the Feb 24 ones from DELL's website, still no luck, no brightness adjustments, really weird.

DDU is "Display Driver Uninstaller" which is a good tool to remove traces of the NVIDIA / AMD / Intel drivers on your system and start fresh.  I have used it many times myself.
