Black Myth Wukong with Raytracing on M18x R2 (M17x R4 too)

Hi.

All services writes about new game with magic graphics... Black Myth Wukong. I saw first screens after that videos and it looks really good.

First I checked system Requirements and Recommended Specs

OS: Windows 10 64-bit or newer.

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 5 5500.

Memory: 16GB RAM.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700XT / INTEL Arc A750.

DirectX: Version 12...

and thought that it is to much for my old Nebula Red.

Few days ago Steam provided a benchmark to check system compatibility I say why not try.

I was away from home and ask about it on Raytracing thread but without answer.

Now I'm home and first thing was turn on M18x and install it... we will see.

yes, thats crazy:

11 gen i7 - 11800H, 64GB DDR4, RTX3060 ( for gaming ) - 68FPS

vs

3 gen i7 -3940, 24GB DDR2, RTX3000 ( industrial ) - 46FPS

I checked it out for fun and curiosity but I am very surprised.

If I lower the resolution to 1600 x 900, V-sync keeps me at around 60 FPS all the time.

I cant believe your getting 48 fps with a 12 yearold system, its basically putting new systems to shame.

is the game any good, good as the hype?

if you had told me you were going to test, i'd be thinking the same thing, no way it will run..not even on low nevermind medium with raytracing. just rad.

did you upgrade your display also? I wonder if its possible to do a screen mod and get a OLED or miniled in your m18

no, it is standard 1920 x 1080 60hz

one of my m17x r4 had 120 hz display but for me was not possible to run it with optimus mode and when I put GPU Quadro P4000 I downgraded it to 60hz

You can use CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) to add other screen hertz. For example, 50 Hz or even 75, if you want a smoother picture (it may be that your matrix has degraded, like mine, and when it’s cold there will be stripes at 75 Hz, but then it may warm up, I rarely use this Hertz card, but maybe yours is better matrix state), I use it often in one game where I don’t have enough performance for 60 frames. And I don’t notice almost any difference in games between 50 Hz and 60 Hz with vertical synchronization, but with FPS just below 60, the difference is colossal. in office tasks, scrolling pages - this is already noticeable.

@Maks0098 can you check Black Myth Wukong on P4000 and M18x R2

I bought 2 x P4000 for the M17X R4 that my older and middle sons use. I'll check with them tomorrow.

I checked Pascal GPU.

M17X R4 with i7-3740QM and Quadro P4000 8GB.

Benchmark automaticly set everything to LOW but started and give me 53 FPS.

If on P4000 I set all to MEDIUM FPS drops to 40

Last one test:

Without Ray tracing - all settings MEDIUM and Super Resolution 65/100 :

image.thumb.png.a379fbcaac6ae9ea78638ab12438ad1c.png

If I changed all to HIGH with Super Resolution 65/100 still the same :

image.thumb.png.808f887d9eda204c0b61d7451d2e6691.png

I see that it is the same effect like in 3D Mark and Cyberpunk. No matter what I set in Nvidia Control panel V-sync is always on and cut FPS to 60 😞

The preset is medium, naturally without ray tracing, because it’s not RTX.

This is a performance measurement with ~98W power limit using MSI Afterburner. Temperatures do not rise above 71 degrees.(629).thumb.png.cbcfedc1c8575148fc270067aaec7964.png

I used a 75 Hertz screen so that it wouldn’t stop at 60 fps, but at 75.

If anything, I flashed the BIOS for a video card with 1772 MHz and 136W power limit using Mobile TDP Pascal Tweaker. But I constantly lower the Power limit to +67%, +80% using MSI Afterburner. I think that later, when I disassemble the laptop, I will flash the same BIOS, but set the TDP to 110W, since with 136W the video card gets very hot. My Tesla M6 didn't heat up that much with 136W. It seems that the issue is the greater energy efficiency of the video card and more watts go to the chip and less to the memory.

Everything is set to high and super resolution 100.
My 3920ХМ is overclocked to 4.5 GHz.

This is the result with 99W power limit, the average frequency of the video card is ~1600 MHz.

Ok,

I checked the same - we have almost the same platform.

Super Resolution 100 / 100,

All settings high,

3840XM @ 4,5 GHz

24GB RAM

I run GPU Tweek with OSD to check all temps - GPU all time under 70 C, CPU all time under 80 C

I use Conductonaut Liquid Metal

image.thumb.png.ae67b986ce41cb48440a5dc94df291c1.png

It looks about 10 FPS difference.
