ccvortex Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:58 AM I know DELL didn't put a high refresh rate panel int he 5680 but was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to install a generic or other non DELL display to get a higher refresh rate. I would keep this laptop forever if I could only get a 90+ hz display in it... right now it's a 1920x1200 60 hz panel. So something like this: https://www.amazon.com/GBOLE-Replacement-Digitizer-1920x1200-Non-Touch/dp/B0D9NQCCST
Aaron44126 Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM I haven’t heard of anyone trying something like this yet on this model. Seems like it “should” work, if the replacement panel has the same connector, and you can actually perform the physical replacement. On that last point, I will say that Dell has made it a lot more annoying to replace the panel than it was in earlier systems. Before, you could snap the bezel off, take out some screws, and easily swap out the panel. Now, the panel is held in place by adhesive, not screws. Aligning a new one would be tricky. When Dell replaces a panel under warranty, they just replace the entire top part of the laptop — panel, enclosure, antennas, and all — rather than replacing the panel only like they used to. ccvortex Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 01:13 PM Yeah, I just had the panel on my 7760 replaced and that's how he did it. Just tore off the adhesive backed front panel and slapped on a new one. I'll ping Parts-People too ,see what he thinks.
