mickeybat059
Hi everyone, I'm creating a series of different topics because I'm currently transforming my Dell Precision M4800 into a Frankenstein monster to reuse it as a second Windows laptop. I'd like to upgrade the CPU to the top-of-the-line i7 4940mx compared to my original i7 4810mq to gain a little extra performance. I think I've seen that this is feasible, but now I'm looking to see if there are alternative fans to the original ones, perhaps more powerful (if possible) since more heat needs to be dissipated from the CPU. Or if they're of the same power as the original ones, if there are quieter options, since the original fans are excessively loud under full load. If there are other options that are both more powerful but a little quieter, that would be great. Thank you in advance 😉
Kitje
Depends what brand your current system has. Delta's the quietest IIRC. The other part of it is the heatsink for the processor, as there is a dual heatpipe and single heatpipe version. Legion 5i Gen 10 - Core 7 Ultra 255HX, 32GB DDR5, RTX 5060 8GB, OLED 165Hz, 500GB SSD, Windows 11 Pro Not in use: HP Elitebook 8470P, ThinkPad X131e, ThinkPad T61, Dell Precision M4800 (dead), HP Zbook 15 G2, Dell Precision 7540 (Delta fans equipped)

Do you know where I could possibly find these Delta Fans for my Precision M4800? From what I’ve seen my unit originally came with an i7-4810MQ, so I assume it already has the dual heatpipe heatsink but I will check. If it’s just a matter of swapping the fan brand I’d definitely look into it.

OK I checked on my unit and it has those part codes. How can I find these Delta ones?

How can I find these Delta ones? Delta fans have a distinctive impeller, that doesn't look slanted upright like AVC/Sunon do. On the rear it should say DELTA ELECTRONICS embossed in the upper left. I've never had AVC fans in my Dell so I can't say.
