Motherboard Replacement Question

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone,

So I want to change the motherboard of my Alienware 18 (the CN-04703X motherboard) for a new one because I'm a bit afraid that the old one won't last too much. The thing is, I managed to change the BIOS display setting to SG mode (I modified the BIOS because I'm going to install a GTX1070 in the future). So when I get the motherboard and change it, will the SG setting stay as is? or will I loose my modification or cause further problems? (Or should I change to default display setting, swap the motherboard and then I can swap it to SG back again?)

Please help and thanks, I just want to make sure I don't cause display issues, its an expensive laptop.

You will need to flash the new motherboard with the modifed BIOS. All that information is stored on the BIOS chip on the board.
