  2. Looking for cheap P775 DM 2 / 3 motheboard TM would be ok as well if direct replacement is ok
  3. Hi, That's great job! Too bad I sold my alienware 17 already, I would've tested it with the RTX 3000, as the TDP bug happened on it.
  4. your link does not work mate. Hopefully the spark did not come from my r4 motherboard 😄 Dead motherboard within an hour of testing would've been really unfortunate 🤔
  5. LVDS are all TN 60Hz. But some of them are really good. Caveat will be angles & coloration: usually no more than 65° and 6 bit panels Getting a V3 motherboard is way to go as you have edp 40pin, which will allow you to get any 2 (maybe even 4) lanes edp panel
  6. Hi mate, wonderful machine! You still need to edit your topic and put a price tag on it. It's mandatory here. Better choose a high one to keep margins for negociations 🙂
  7. hi, there's a BIOS crisis recovery method that works well on m17x r3 / r4 or m18x r1 / r2. It only requires USB thumbdrive. CH341a also works, but requires disassembly of the laptop.
  8. hi, emergency bios recovery does not work well on aw 17r1. Use a ch341a instead and flash the eeprom directly with a clean bios.
  9. IIRC you cannot undervolt / overvolt quadro GPUs edp won't work (superMG3 tested the RTX3k HP & PNY on R4 edp and it was a no joy).
  10. maybe the guy who sold you the laptop left both cable plugged but anyway, there's only ONE plug on the back of the screen (LVDS or EDP) so the other video cable was left unplugged in the back of the screen lid.
  11. ALL AW17 rangers have both LVDS & EDP connectors on the motherboards. For edp options, you have either the 30pin (60hz) or the 40pin (120hz+ or 3D). For LVDS, it's 40pin 60hz (NOT compatible with edp screen).
  12. hi, you can swap the motherboard, then do the bios upgrade if you want unlocked BIOS. CMOS battery installation is straightforward.
  13. Too bad... Can you share newer bios?
  14. I've got 3060 RTX 12GB in my Viking, which is basically A3000 consumer version. Card works ok although plagued by throttling due to Haswell chipset limitations (happens also on AW17 and MSI GT60/70 Haswell). Card does not throttle at all on m17x R4, M18X r2 nor MSI GT60/70 Ivy Bridge. Same behaviour happens with quadro RTX 3000 PNY and RTX 4070 from x-vsion
  15. Hi, best is to stick with MASTER MXM slot as you'll be able to use it with SG mode (needs modded BIOS though). Then you may use any mxm nvidia card up to RTX 4000 gen. Be aware that throttle is reported with AW18 with some GPUs (PNY Quadro RTX 3000, Geforce RTX 3060, RTX 4070...). Pascal GPU do not throttle, nor does Quadro RTX 3000 from HP (not standard MXM). If you need parts for AW18 I may have heatsinks (primary & secondary I think)
  16. Hi, Flashing bios is quite easy, there's a good tutorial here on the forum. You'll definitely need modded BIOS if you want to install 1070 GTX in the future, as a fixed SG mode is mandatory for that one (no edp screen in AW18 unfortunately). Original BIOS is default in PEG mode, which will result in 8 beep error and blank screen.
  17. hi, 780m GTX in SLI & I7 4940MX
  18. Well there's something wrong in between the MXM & the LVDS MUX then. Problem is finding the issue itself...
  19. Alienware 18 Viking schematics_Compal LA-9332P VAS10 rX02 201119.pdf Does it work in SG mode with the Nvidia card? I mean using the nvidia card for 3D purpose (not just 2D using intel iGPu) There are many signal converter on the board (for IGPu, DGPu, HDMI, DP,...) so most probably the one dealing with DGPu signal is defective (the chip itself or some kind of cms associated). Could be hard to track down.
  20. Yeah I've seen your post already. I tried to replicate it but did not work, IGFX just disables completely MXM card on my setup.
