Clevo P775TM1-G doesn't boot, no signal on the screen then shuts off after 60 seconds (Modded BGA1440 CPU install)

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I used CoffeeTime tool to make the use of the Xeon E-2286M on this laptop.

I don't know why, but when I flashed the BIOS using meset, the laptop boots, the modded CPU works and the GPU work too but it reported as a P870TM BIOS with version 1.07.X

I was like how is that possible? I saved the P775TM1 file and the name of the file was 1440BGA-P775TM1.bin. Maybe... because I had two instances of CoffeeTime 0.99 opened... (One had P870KM bios so I could copy off the microcodes and stuffs) And one had the p775tm bios I was editing...

So I retry again with only one app open. Then I try to flash and... The pc doesn't work anymore.

Nothing on the screen.

Laptop does boot looping every 60 seconds.

Keyboard lights up, fan 1 and 2 are spinning but nothing on the screen. With and without RAM, same issue.

I tried to use my P775TM backup file I did back then, used a CH341A and flashed it to the U16 BIOS chip (next to the Chipset and RAM modules) and still, it does the same thing...

EC isn't bricked, version is 1.05.03TR1

Please help.

Okay. Sorry if I made another extra post in this forum.

If your PC does the same thing as me after flashing with a modded BIOS.

It's probably your PC isn't screwed yet.

First reflash back the original backup using CH341A, flash the MX2564L73F (U16) chip.

If you still get the same behaviour as before... For me, I had to test one by one the RAM. And the issue was coming from the RAM configuration...

If that's not the case for you, try to FN +D + power then, to reset the cmos.

It was working fine while flashing and then the new bios and old bios probably didn't like the actual ram configuration.

Now that stick of RAM is working in another RAM slot... Weird

Edit: the RAM trick doesn't work with the bios + modified microcodes... I used the latest XMG bios I upgraded too. I upgraded the EC and BIOS everything worked fine. Then I use the same newest bios + adding the new microcodes and nothing on the screen...

We can't use the mutant CPUs on the P775TM1? It's a Z370 chipset board

Okay got news.

I flashed successfully the modded BIOS with the latest EA microcodes. Laptop boots now!

All I had to do was to install 2 more patches, remove SPD protection and also install the "Fix Clevo black screen boot when ME is disabled". Using CoffeTime 0.99 software.

I have one other issue... The laptop boots fine with the original CPU, the GPU displays and stuffs.

But when I add the modded CPU, nothing on screen, laptop boots to Windows and stuff but nothing on screen. Nothing on the BIOS too. Just no display. I put back the original CPU and I get display...

Why the P870 bios allowed me to use both modded CPU and GPU at the same time?

What did I miss again? I can no longer use the GPU because of the modded CPU with my modded XMG BIOS...

Hello@runix18

Do you know what Dsanke did with the P870 bios? Because this bios works with all BGA1440 CPUs.

The P775TM from Dsanke doesn't work even despite adding the latest microcodes, enabling the "Clevo anti automatic shutdown fix" and adding the BGA1440 patch. Disabling ME.

Original CPU still works with this BIOS but E-2286M doesn't work and makes the laptop shutdown after 60s then cycle again (nothing on the screen).

I wanna know what's the difference between P870TM BIOS and P775TM one.

Yes by flashing the P870 one into the P775 works but as you told me, we're losing x16. Going from PCIe x16 to x8.

I have no ideea what the exact diferences are.

To be honest there is no major diference between 16X and 8X on the PCIE anyway. You can try with both versions and see if you have major fps diferences. If not just use the P870 bios.

Okay thank you. Is it possible to replace the module of the GPU's bandwidth?

Like on UEFItool, what address should I look for?

Edit I found this bios on the forum: by @jjo192

https://notebooktalk.net/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=7909&key=c100df4892020c5b012908604d79134a

He said it's for P775DM3 but with the P775TM1 features and the name of bios is literally "P7xxTM1"

Like I said previously, the modules are different in the sense that NVDgpu.dxe is different, and P7xx series needs an additional module besides NVDgpu.dxe. I cannot help you with that because I have no experience with P7xx bios.

What you found is most probably a Z370 moded bios for P775DM3, dsanke may edition (first generation of bioses). You can try that and see how it goes.

Hello thank you. I can't seem to download the P7XXTM1 128GB PCIe one because it needs an app?

Edit: found a friend to do it and I'll share the bios so anyone can use it once I got the Xeon to work on my laptop

I got the CPU to work with the P7xxTM1-0729-9900KS-128G. Then I disassembled the pc to repaste and then the pc does this weird annoying boot....

It boots then shutdowns in 2 seconds then it does a loop of it. Sounds like a RAM issue but how?

2 seconds sounds like a short or a cooler not connected properly.

Hello. Got the laptop back and working. Had to remove all the RAM modules and place them differently.

RAM 1 and RAM 4 instead of RAM 3 and 4. It's in single-channel.

Dual channel doesn't seem to work

Here's the working BIOS for QTJ0, Xeon E-2286M:

Dual channel not working because of unequal pressure on the CPU by the CPU heatsink.

Well, I used another screw mounting for the 3rd point because the Clevo one can't hold the pressure and goes off.  So the lga1151 bracket is a little bit on the top on another side but the CPU is secured, doesn't move.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see if can shorten the another screw mounting I got.

CPU scores 525 single core and 5000 in multi with CPU-Z bench
