I tested the RTX 4070 without any heatsinks to see if it displays something on the X170SM. Nothing. Backlight mod is on. I can change the brightness of the display but there's nothing on the screen. The GPU is cold. This GPU worked in a P775TM1. These P775TM1 work with RTX 20XX and 30XX from Clevo. So they use eDP in DP_D like on the X170SM-G. What's wrong? Help please. If the 4070 doesn't work then the 4090 won't work either. Will the KM accept the RTX Ada better? Even my Quadro P3000 UEFI doesn't display. The laptop refuses to boot with it but with the RTX 4070 it boots (no display). This X170SM motherboard has an issue with the dual channel and it's coming from the PCH, so are the PCIE PEG lines impacted? It displayed with an RTX 3080 Clevo before..

Hello. I got the RTX 4070, 4080 and 4090 to work in the P775TM1. Yes I'm late to announce it but they work with the backlight mod v2. No bios mods. Got 16700 in TimeSpy graphics for the 4080 Got 19800 to 20100 in TimeSpy graphics for the 4090. Running at 150W with the custom 2 in 1 air heatsink from Cicichen. Now I'll try to get the 40XX cards to work in the X170KM-G (PCie gen 4 + better single core)

I got that to work in the P870 and P775 without the power connector! You just need a new heatsink for it.

Hello. Won't the RTX 4070 MXM fix your issue? It performs like the 3080 150W and it only uses 115W. You need to cool down its VRAM chips too. The GDDR6 on those can achieve 90C max if well cooled. The VRM don't get too hot and I never had any shutdown issue with it. Second option: You can use an older Nvidia driver, it's a bug that allows to set the power limit.

Hello guys. What are your scores in CPU-z with an i7 11700K? (Undervolted). Because I'll soon test my RTX 4090 MXM with my backlight mod v2 and a custom made heatsink for it with CPU part being watercooled (hopefully) This card worked on the P775TM1 with 9900K

At least I found a KM motherboard that's like 2.5 times cheaper than on AliExpress. The dual channel and the rest work. This sm motherboard has too many issues, new ones appearing each day. No idea if that i9 10900KF got defective because of that motherboard or it's just an unlucky chip.

Got 4070 to work. 4090 will work too, need EDID override and maybe a watercooled heatsink for it since 150W is hot

The whole laptop is glitching now. It was working before. I didn't use it for a day. No it's not a faulty GPU. No error 43 or BSOD. No artifacts just doing some screen flashing flickers The screen flickers crazily and the laptop always goes to sleep mode after 10 seconds. Dead PCH? Dead motherboard. Waiting for the 300USD KM-G motherboard replacement and my custom 2 in 1 heatsink with watercooling for GTX 9XXM and RTX 40XX MXM

I did update the BIOS with ch341A. I erased the entire BIOS chip and flashed a stock 1.07.04 clean BIOS. EC seems to be working. The EC doesn't control the RAM. EC is 1.07.zT. The laptop is a zTecPC variant and I can't find the 1.07.04zT bios for it (Prema) Laptop works only in single-channel. Tried to adjust the LGA bracket pressure, cleaned the socket. Can't get it to work with dual channel.

Dropped the price of the backlight mod v2 pack to 35€ (was 39€) on ebay and 30€ with Paypal F&F. Shipping to USA is no longer an option because the shipping prices are ridiculous and got increased by almost X2 for just a small package.

Alright the motherboard is faulty... I tried with an i3 10100F known for working with dual channel memory. Same issues as before. For some reasons it booted with 1x16 3200MHz at 2666MHz and 2x16 3200Mhz at 2666MHz in single. It also means the I9 10900KF is half faulty. It couldn't run a single 16 nor 2x16gb. Can only run 2666MHz sticks at 2133MHz

Yes I saw that. It's a LVDS display since the 120Hz requires a 50 pins cable.

No one helps where I live. They say they only repair certified brands, like what the heck. I hope it's a CPU issue. An "ebay" repair job is like 300-400€ lol and we aren't sure if they can repair. I'll try and see if one of my connections knows someone for repairs

I'll test the RTX 4090 MXM on the Clevo X170 when I'll get the heatsink for it. The 4090 works great on the Clevo P775TM1 with the custom heatsink. Great temps with my backlight mod v2

I'll buy an i7 10700K since it's an 8 cores CPU. If dual channel doesn't work then the motherboard is dead. I hope it's not the case. The motherboard costs more than the I9. Dead motherboard: It means that the ram traces are probably broken or a faulty PCH. I didn't see any suspicious liquid damage on the board CPU: It means the DRAM controller is dead.

So single channel works in slot 1 and 2. When I try single channel for slot 3 or 4. It doesn't boot. CPU socket pins, everything looks clean. Nothing is broken or missing. Used an air blower and a brush to clean the socket, still the dual channel doesn't work. Is that a motherboard issue or a CPU issue?

I try this with 2 slots (1 and 2) in single: 1x8GB (2666MHz) works at 2133Mhz, boots to OS 2x8GB (2666MHz) works at 2133MHz, boots to OS 16GB (3200MHz) + 8GB (2666MHz) works at 2133MHz, boots to OS 2x16GB (3200MHz) doesn't work, no boot. 1x16 (3200MHz), doesn't work, no boot. Anything in dual channel, no boot. All the RAM sticks get hot in the touch, so they are getting powered. Is that a CPU problem?

Hello. I bought a Clevo X170SM-G with 10900KF and RTX 3080 16GB with 32GB of RAM. It has the watercooling 2in1 heatsink. Laptop wasn't posting so I reflashed it with a 1.07.04 stock clean ME bios. Still no boot. So I had to remove the RAM from slot 2/4 and I only used one slot and it worked. The laptop only posts with single channel configuration and it runs at 2133MHz. The previous owner told me that the laptop was working perfectly fine and he didn't use it for a week and the laptop wouldn't post. I cleaned the CPU pads. There were some stains but this didn't help. Is the motherboard dead? Or is the CPU DDR controller dead? All the memory slots are working in single channel.

Hello. To flash the BIOS on the X170, I can flash any BIOS .rom from XMG/SAGER/Eurocom? Are they clean ME?

Alienware 17 R1 120Hz and M17X R4 120Hz are good to go for the newest RTX Ampère and Ada cards in pure UEFI. ATM, the RTX Turing also work in the M17X R3 with a modded BIOS. The memory chips reach to 98C and the GPU temps is like 85C max. I don't use PTM7950. All the GDDR6 I have can achieve to 100C. The VRAM throttles at 105C I believe.

Just on the M17X R4. It boots, displays and drivers install. In pure-UEFI. I don't have the M18X R2 because it's a LVDS system. The 4070 would be great to be used on the M4800 as it's the a 15.6" laptop that can use a 1080p 120Hz display and has AVX2 support.
