Maro97 Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 Dose anyone try this with clevo laptops LGA1151 ?
Kastner Posted December 19, 2025 Posted December 19, 2025 Yes, and it does not work. The heatsink is lying on the frame. So when you install this you will have a gap with the thickness of IHS. And because the VRM and CPU cooling is on the same block there will be height issues. Clevo P870DM2 9900k GTX1080 Clevo P775TM1 9700k RTX3070
Maro97 Posted December 20, 2025 Author Posted December 20, 2025 I will solve it by using a copper block with the same thickness as the IHS. I will use LM Extreme between the CPU die and the copper block, and also between the copper block and the heatsink. What do you think?
Kastner Posted December 20, 2025 Posted December 20, 2025 You can use copper IHS and then you do not need the direct die frame. The main reason for the DD frame that you can skip the IHS. I think its only worth it if you can skip the IHS layer from the cooling. Clevo P870DM2 9900k GTX1080 Clevo P775TM1 9700k RTX3070
