BishopOn1
I'm in a dilemma, I have a new GPU that I'm replacing and I can't connect it securely to the heart sink. Whatever this metal piece on back of the old one (smaller GPU on the right) is missing on the new one (bigger GPU on left of image. Is there a way to remove the old one and place it on the new one or is there someplace I can order it?
Kitje
Those are X-brackets. Some new or used GPUs don't come with one meaning you have to take the one from your old card off or getting a new one with some adhesive to attach it with. I think my WX-4150 did not come with a bracket so I had to purchase one from eBay and upon discovering it had no adhesive I also bought a roll to adhere to the card. Fiddly process... Aaron44126
You can remove the bracket from the old card; you might need a heat gun or hair dryer to heat it up to get the adhesive to release. (You will need something to hold it in place while you mount the card in your new system until the heatsink has it screwed in. The adhesive that is sort of still stuck to it when you remove it might be good enough.)
