How to upgrade M17XR4 to GTX 1070

Has any one had success upgrading the M17XR4 to the GTX1070 with a 1920x1080 60Hz display screen , someone was telling me that it would work through Nvidia Optimus letting the card function at slightly lower performance , is this true or do you need to use the eDP 120Hz display for this car to function properly. I bought a GTX 1070 card and modified the driver INF file. I modified the  " nvdmig " INF file with the cards hardware ID and my pc's hardware ID , is that the correct INF file I need to modify or is it the " nv_dispig " INF file . I installed the driver with Driver signature enforcement Disabled and it appeared to install successfully  , the GTX 1070 appears in the Device Manager and I'm able to set the GTX1070 as default card in Nvidia control panel but the system won't use the GTX1070 when i try and benchmark it . Right now I'm  stumped at what to do next  , I was trying to upgrade my sons laptop for Christmas but things are not working out , any help would be awesome  , thank you.

Hi, i have the m17x r5 / 17 r1 4.gen cpu , now currently im using a p3200 in it with 60hz optimus,  no issues here. Try another section for it as you go trough the nvdmi inf file  ( im only modified that one) you can see different section for different hrdwr id. I hope  that will help for You.

Modify nv_display.inf not the nvdmi etc

Yes, The 1070 will work on the 60hz panel as it has Optimus with the Intel graphics. This is the only way to get a 10 series card to work with an LVDS display.
