    I placed the original CPU back in the laptop, and still got the same black screen. I've decided to ship the laptop off to a repair shop to see if I can get it repaired with some upgrades.

    Its just a black screen. No beep codes. I've already took out the CMOS battery to attempt to reset the BIOS, same result. Tonight I'll remove the RAM to see what happens.

    Well, looks like life wants me to hold on to this ol' laptop a little longer. Thank you @ DreDre2022 for the updated i7 CPU👍. With that said here's my problem. I installed the CPU and now the laptop screen doesn't show the OS. I've triple checked every connected, and even reinstalled the original CPU, and the same result. What did I do wrong?

    Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you an update on my experiment 🧪 It seems like it didn't work out as planned 😕 I tried using two 1070 cards but unfortunately, no success there. I even reached out to someone who was selling the G4 Quadro P5000 16GB N17E-Q5-A1 Video card, and they suggested reselling it if it doesn't work for me. Honestly, I've been stressing out over this and losing sleep 😫 So, I've decided to put my laptop up for sale. If anyone's interested, let me know! 🎉 I'm planning to use the funds to get myself an Area 51m r2 with a 2080. Super excited about that! 😄 Thank you all for your support and patience throughout this journey! You guys have been amazing in helping this noob out. 👍💪

    Nothing new to report @ the moment. Still doing some research, and was wondering if this would fit my ol' Alienware? NVIDIA Quadro P5000 16GB GDDR5 MXM Graphics Card - N17E-Q5-A1 Also my current CPU is the i7 4700MQ. Should I also think about upgrading this as well?

    Wow😲 thank you for the information!!! I've never heard of these cards before. Do my eyes deceive me, this is a 16GB card? The seller suggests it only works in an Dell Precision 7710/7720. Has anyone successfully installed this card into an R1?

    @Jerryzago Just saw your latest message. I'll save my next driver installation progress and post it here. UPDATE: Also a quick update on the card refund process. The person requested I send it back, and that I'd get a new 1070 in exchange. I'm hesitant on it, as the last purchase I made for an SSD from China, the seller promised something an exchange, and disappeared from eBay!! I'm a bit disappointed that I can't play RDR2 as that was the main reason for attempting the upgrade. Got tired of getting 15 fps and game crashes after an hour on the 780m.

    I took your advice and tried an older Nvidia driver for the 1070. **EDITED FOR UPDATED INORMATION** No crashes so far, on GR Breakpoint, and Jedi Fallen Order however, Spiderman says the driver is too old, NBA 2K23 is skipping. Also the temperatures are pretty high while playing as shown here: Also, I couldn't get RDR2 to run as I kept getting the following error:

    👋👋thank you for responding. I decided just mod the Nvidia driver itself and leave NVCleanstall. I've been modding the nv_disp or nvdmi, with either of the following, depending on what's needed: NVIDIA_DEV.1BA1 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070" NVIDIA_DEV.1BA1.05AB.1028 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070" %NVIDIA_DEV.1BA1.05AB.1028% = Section036, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_05AB1028 %NVIDIA_DEV.1BA1% = Section036, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BA1

    I asked the seller more information, and am awaiting a response. I always wanted an Alienware Area 51m R2 with a 2080, however, its out of reach for me at the moment. If I could get this to work in this ol' laptop, I'd be over the moon. I saw where someone was successful in this thread: 18 R1, need advice for upgrading (noob here) Specifically the answer here: .     Thank you for going on this noob journey with me. I'm hoping someone else will come across the thread and learn from my errors. Also learn from the knowledge and patience presented to me, in getting this project completed with this card or another. With that said, there are several things I've noticed: 1. I did in fact turn GR Breakpoint up to High and Ultra settings before the crash 2. I have no clue of what I'm looking at so its curiosity at best. Even though GPU Z doesn't show the card is fake, there are differences in this and other 1070's as noted here: *My card (as of this writing): *Official MSI 1070 1070 card: 3. The 780m ran quite cool, as opposed to the 1070. I purchased a new heatsink for the 1070 found here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/264535254142, which upon review may not have been the correct heatsink for the card😥. Is there a recommended heatsink for it? 4 As I'm cross referencing other 1070 Device ID's, this card doesn't match up completely. I've searched here: https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/510.47.03/README/supportedchips.html. The only Device ID I see that is somewhat similar to this card is here: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 1BA1 H 2, the others like the following are with Max Q Design: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design 1BA1 1028 08A1 H 2.

Ok, I've downloaded the following drivers: 425.31-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql 442.59-notebook-win10-64bit-international-dch-whql. Since I'm a noob, and a bit superstitious at this point - I downloaded these as they worked with the ol' 780m😂😂

    Thank you for recommending this. I was speaking with a friend who suggested the card's voltage is off, and perhaps it may be a fake. I've included pictures below from Event Viewer, and GPUZ to see if its possible to verify the following: why would the voltage be off. Could the card be fake? I keep seeing these two issues in Event Viewer. What could be causing this? Thank you for taking the time to help this noob learn how get this issue fixed🙏

    Unfortunately, I don't have access to one😥 I hope repasting with a better paste will keep the GPU cool. As of this writing I'm playing Spiderman Remastered with the following temperatures: hopefully, I don't get a crash to desktop.

    Each time I install a driver I go through the process of selecting the GPU as the main.

    Ok, I'll rewatch the video and follow it exactly. I'm surprised installing the drivers didn't work, as I was modding drivers for the old 780m. I initially installed the driver with NVCleanstall and chose the [1B81] template, and had no problems until I tried adding the card's Hardware ID to the .inf. I'll report results back soon...
