  1. And in MSI p4200 working as only discreet video card, as you know - msi has hardware key for changing IGPU and dGPU, both not working newer. LCD has LVDS interface which not supported with Pascal video cards ( AW 17/18 not working in PEG mode) , msi - Working. one of these days I'll try to run p4200 on MSI GT72 Skylake bridge.
  2. Hi. Continue. Power drop p4200 in AW 18. Little information I trying to install p4200 in MSI GT80 Titan (haswell CPU) and same situation with dropping core frequency to 309-350mhz. I think problem PASCAL and haswell EC tables with power loading. msi gt80 has same problem as AW18! Maybe in video bios wrong powers tables states P0 p1 p2...
  3. people, free distribution of cool video cards. I've already bought three for myself. no thanks 😉 RTX2070 Super 8 GB . Price is almost FREE https://www.ebay.com/itm/116226067001?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=cGV6HfrLRee&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=njTTVKLmQ8i&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

  6. Difference between P4000 and p4200 in benchmarks on Alienware 18 4930mx 32gb ram not overclocked. P4000 and p4200 are throttling core clock. But p4000 small, p4200 is more high drop.
  7. Another important detail - the fan could be controlled by a master card with Maxwell or Kepler through the HWinfo utility, but now with the P4000 or P4200 installed, control is not available for first video card! when you turn everything on to maximum (manual mode or custom mode), only the power of the CPU fan and the GPU2 is turned on (GPU2 isnt inslall) and the GPU1 fan just stops!!! - I almost killed the video card - I thought all the fans were noisy, the temperature sensor in manual mode was detected as the temp of the P4200 but the fan itself stops and temp in streess test come higher 95C. I think that - this is still an EC controller, the interaction tables needs to be changed there. It's possible that it's reading the temperature incorrectly, but I'm not sure.
  8. No, i not try resistor mod, because its not my laptop, i helping my friend to upgrade, and i don't want change anything hardware, because it may lead to unpredictable problems. And no 100% guarantee what this mod will helping solve the issue with power throttle. where is the proof? tests? I do not see 🙈. Therefore, I reduced the consumption of p4200 to 70% with msi afterburner (curve editor) and the frequency is stable at 1150-1250 MHz and does not drop. Performance is slightly higher than p4000, but very little. for example, fire strike gpu score p4000 - 12xxx , p4200 - 14xxx points, although it should be 16xxx mark with full power. This makes me sad. In AW18 it makes no sense to install powerful video cards, the p3200 works much better than the p4000 or p4200 because bios is flashed MAX-Q at 60 watt tdp and there are no problems with throttling. I think RTX4000/5000 no sense installing too. Rtx3000 will be much better with lower power consumption. I have lvds screen AW18, i have unlocked bios because it may be useful.
  9. Without an unlocked BIOS it is impossible to use video cards after Maxwell (pascal, touring, ampere.) because the screen has an LVDS interface and not an EDP. cards from 1060 work only with EDP, with the exception of only Quadro P5000 with an ES video BIOS. I use max 330w power supply video cards vendor is does not matter, i can flash any bios and change vendor. i use P4000 from Dell precision 7720 and p4200 HP zbook 17 g5 with soldered vbios chip w25q40wnig and flashed vbios from Precision 7730\7740 (dont remember which one). card quadro p3200 from zbook 17 g5 with vbios from 7730 not property working in AW18 (throttling, 75w tdp) but with vbios from 7530 (15,6" LCD) tdp 60w working well! i use drivers in device manager choose p4200 from list and install (no need moddind inf file). i use MSI afterburner and i can cange power limit to low, and if i change lower (80% power) - core clock less different from the standard valuem, core drop is from 1200mhz (standart with no turbo is 1418mhz) to 670mhz, but if i change power to 60% - clock stable 900 mhz +\- 60 mhz, no hard throttling and stable working on full load, but no turbo. furmark start fps stock (no core power mod) - 220fps after 3 sec drop to 418-600 mhz with 41-50 fps, if use power limit - 900 mhz - 145-150 fps with same conditions... problem is in POWER LIMITS IN bios. Bios Cuts power to 40-60 watt, not more. if video card consumption less than 60-65w - wideo card will be working fine, if higher - will dropp core or memory frequency. Sleep mode than power on - not solve this issue, change graphics NVIDIA driver power settings (hi performance, adaptive...) - also no sucsess. and i dont know if RESISTOR modding can help in this trouble
  10. thanks all for answers! I still can't decide on which display to use. I only play World of Tanks and maybe call of duty in the future. I just have two laptops and I don’t know which one to keep and which one to sell))) on one 300 Hz full HD on the other 4k 60Hz. on 4k games in full resolutions have low fps than on full hd, but RGB colours and DPI better in 4k
  11. Thanks for answering 😊 but need more peoples for review
  12. Alienware 17 (m17x r5) have same issue with power draw down... Try both laptops (haswell) with p4000, p4200 . Tdp down after few seconds
  13. In other thread make power resistor mod for best voltage. but there is no proof that this will always work. Only one resistor R004 need soldering to an existing one, or 2pcs need soldering to existing one? Most pictures are not available, links are not valid
  14. Who solved this issue? I installed p4000 and p4200- both throttle periodically 2-3sec up and down core speed... I try p3200, on stock bios (TDP - 75w ) - throttling, Then i flash vbios from 7530 with 60w TDP, and card work flawlessly! No drop core or memory. But p4000 and p4200 no bioses with low TDP... P4000-80w, p4200- 100w TDP
  15. And question for guru - i have 2 displays for x170KM , its 4k b173zan01 60hz perfect display UHD, and perfect 300HZ Full HD b173han05. Which is better? I can't decide which one is better. Can anyone write the advantages and disadvantages of both and which one you would choose for yourself. Thanks
  16. Can anyone tell how make backup OEM bios and EC Firmware?
  17. Thanks bro! Finally someone looks attention to me! I'm grateful for the links, they work. Thanks everyone, the issue is closed 😉
  18. if this is a thread for discussing x170km why is there a discussion about x170sm? I'm happy for the owner of 170sm but i have 170km.
  19. Perhaps you misunderstood me, I didn’t want to offend anyone. but apparently it’s hard to update the link? xmg BIOS does not have a cpu overclocking menu. Install 10900k and I can’t set the TDP CPU to the values whatI need through this unfinished xmg bios. I have to use XTU or Throttlestop every time, which is generally inconvenient. The stock origin pc bios with the menu unlocked is much better. I think no one here will tell how to make a BIOS backup, so there’s no point in asking. yes, I was counting on more help than a message about the tone...
  20. Link on Sager bios is NOT Working! Please upload on Google drive, or on site. How many more times do I have to ask? a lot of talk about memory and no one can load the BIOS!
  21. link not available for download. please update link or download on this thread
