Glad you got it sorted out! Windows updates can be pretty mysterious sometimes, especially when there’s no clear indication which change actually fixed the problem. At least it’s good to know the issue was software-related and not a hardware fault.

Just got a new laptop with 32GB RAM and I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep thermals in check during long sessions. After about an hour of use the fans kick in pretty hard and I'm seeing temps around 85-90C under load. Is this normal for a high-spec laptop or should I be looking at repasting or adjusting fan curves? How you are managing heat on the machines!

If looks matter to you too, you can definitely explore a few other brands with the same specs because Lenovo is durable for sure, but you can probably find something that gives you both the build quality and the design you want.

I haven’t used this particular laptop, but if hinges are your main concern, I’d suggest looking at Lenovo laptops. I’ve used two HP laptops myself and had hinge issues with both, and eventually the screen started getting damaged too, performance was fine otherwise, but because of that experience, I personally wouldn’t recommend HP if durability is the priority.

I’m really liking the direction ASUS is taking with the Duo as well—the dual-screen setup looks genuinely useful rather than just being a gimmick. If they can pair that design with a stronger GPU option, I could definitely see it replacing a larger laptop for a lot of people.

That little zip when the fans spin up can happen and doesn’t necessarily mean the fan is failing, especially if everything else is running normally. I’d keep an ear on it for now, but if the noise gets louder, turns into grinding/rattling, or starts happening constantly, I’d definitely use the warranty rather than risk it.

Good finds, especially at those prices. The P14s Gen 5 looks like a great deal with the Ryzen 7, better display, and larger SSD, while the E14 seems perfect for everyday use without spending much. It would be interesting to hear how both compare after a few weeks of use, particularly in terms of battery life and thermals. I personally looking for Dell DC15250 or DC15255 laptop, Exploring this series at the moment confused.

That actually makes sense. I’ll try disconnecting the new fan completely and test if the laptop powers on without it. The old fan was removed before and the laptop still worked, so maybe this replacement fan is faulty or causing a short like you mentioned. Thanks

My ASUS ROG gaming laptop suddenly stopped powering on after I replaced the CPU fan today. The old fan was making noise, so I removed it temporarily and the laptop was still working fine. Today I installed the new fan, connected everything back, and after assembling the laptop, it now shows no power at all. I’ve already tried: Checking charger Reconnecting battery Holding power button Reopening the laptop If anyone has experienced this before or knows what could cause it, please help. Any quick troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
