What can I do with these XMP settings?
Kassowen replied to Kassowen's topic in Components & Upgrades
I want to say that I am good with the XMP profile as it is, so lets go for the gear down mode of 1, or do you think leaving it at 2 is fine? What setting would you recommend for these D11 settings and command rate support? -
MAX-15, i7-10870h with -.50mv undervolt, 2070 super, gsync, gskill cl16 3000mhz 32gb kit, adata sx8200 pro 1tb, samsung 980pro 1tb.

Hi All Like many, I suffer from micro stutter in games and are just curious if there are particular measures and tweaks to limit it as much as possible? I intend to upgrade to windows enterprise sometime soon as one possible method of performance and stability enhancement, but I am just curious if there are some proven methods for limiting microstuttering. Something I have noticed is that microstutter is notable less when I am in Dgpu mode as opposed to being on hybrid, or dynamic with respect to the mux switch, so is this really a driver issue possible? With respect to undervolting, I have noticed my system frequency crashes when I got near the limit of what I am able to undervolt with my system, which is about -.75mv, however I now do -.50mv simply because I no longer have system failures and so on. That said, am I really just dealing with a lesser Binned CPU and this is the result? Or is there some way to make a higher undervolt more stable? CPU is i7-10870h. Laptop is max-15 eluktronics.

I use chrome, however one thing that particularly bothers me about it is its inability to actually store browing history long term. I am just curious if there is some modification to this, or if possibly going to abother browser altogether might be a better idea. Tell me what works well in your experience. Is it possible some extension is causing it to not keep history? I doubt it since I have not seen any option with respect to storing history and having an expire date on it. Ghostery, ublock, web rtc leak prevent are what I use. This usually hasnt been an issue with downloads, however in the past chrome wouldnt keep certain downloads for long. I am uncertain why.

About Windows LTSC (Windows 10/11 Enterprise LTSC)
Kassowen replied to Aaron44126's topic in Windows
Okay, so its worth going to enterprise, out of curiousity, is windows 10 pro and windows 10 enterprise functionally similar so that I could do a fresh installation of windows 10 enterprise, but use a system image of windows 10 pro on that? I am just trying to think of a way to make this easier as doing a fresh install and doing all the driver installations is a long pain I would rather avoid.- 163 replies

About Windows LTSC (Windows 10/11 Enterprise LTSC)
Kassowen replied to Aaron44126's topic in Windows
Out of curiousity, is it worth it to go from win10 pro to the same in LTSC? Or is one just better off upgrading to windows 10 enterprise in LTSC?- 163 replies

Does your laptop have a mux switch? When I change modes with that, funny events tend to happen, and losing brightness control has been one of them.

Cleaning and reseating drives and ram, would that stop errors?
Kassowen replied to Kassowen's topic in General Discussion
Ya oops, I should have said its win10, which I also assumed most people here just use given the issues with 11. I have avoided W11 out of reasons like this, however it seems as though I have also gotten this in windows 10 updates, however newer updates have seemed to have patched it so far. I am wanting to ask, can one go from Windows 10 to enterprise via just a key change, or do I need to do a total system reinstallation? I mainly got windows 10 pro because I do not run a server and the keys are cheap, however given the performance and stability benefits, it might be wise to switch. This said, back in the old Notebook review forum, there was a few threads dedicated to optimizing windows, is there anything like that here by chance? I remember a program called donotspy which seemed to do most of the tricks. -
Typically when I install new drives and ram, I go out of my way to clean the surfaces of the connectors with iso-p alcohol, and this time around when I installed my all of these things, I did not. In a series of odd errors and system crashes, it seems as if it has been either this, or some issue with windows updates which if anyone has gotten the same please tell me. The general fix lately has been more recent updates when I am plugged in, and when I am on battery, to set some of the power saving features to be on balanced or moderate. Those being PCI-E E, and Igpu graphics. Essentially something about the deeper powersaving features has been causing Whea and a crashes where only holding the power button down gets one out of. It could also be that my laptop isnt binned well as far as CPU's go, and doing to much of an undervolt is causing this, however I seem to get it anyway from the max about about -.75mv to say 66mv, it will still happen anyway. Given the excess of heat a samsung 980Pro makes, its possible that it is also demanding to much power unlike other nvme's, as this drive will routinely be hot, even if magician power saving and idle states are active. Things I have done -DDU of GPU and IGPU drivers -Reverted back to OEM intel chipset driver -No longer undervolting -latest updates, -New ram seems to cause less crashes, perhaps DIMM pins, and PCI slot pins need to be cleaned. -Saying on Either IGPU mode or DGPU mode. Historically something about dynamic mux switches has made for rather glitchy performance.

What can I do with these XMP settings?
Kassowen replied to Kassowen's topic in Components & Upgrades
Well lets just try something simple for now. I know its bios locked to not go past 1.35v, despite the options for that, which I dont know why its there to begin with then. Simple being setting it to gear mode 1, which is what most people do as a first step. Can you recommend what to use the 5 settings below it for? Most people I hear always just say put it to gear mode 1, but nothing about the rest of these settings. -
I would look at the sales HID evolution offers.

Are you aware of any particular characteristics to look for in the timings? B-dies if I recall mainly do well overclocking with extra voltage, however I wont be going past 3200mhz given the bios lock, and this is the only other person who did a similar job, however its with Hynix C-die. I suppose I could reference the timings with performance desktop b-die ram that is at 1.2v, though I am not sure if that can be applicable to sodimm. Just as a bonus for whoever is interested, here are the timings for the imfamous ballistix, which few ever got running correctly. -
To my understanding, the most common practice in ram timings is just to use the most efficient xmp profile coupled with Gear down mode one, which I am currently in mode 2. However I am also given other interesting options such as turn around timings, command rate support, D11BwEn(what is that? As I cannot find anything on that), etc. Has anyone mess around with these enough to come up with some interesting results? Ram is Gskill 3000mhz CL16 Dual rank 32gb kit, which I dont know if it matters, but I was on the fence with the 3200mhz kit, however the loss of 2 points of CL for 200mhz didnt seem worth it, am I right or wrong? BTW, how do I use real time memory timing?

Oh its been awhile, I was wondering where you all went and there was another site but I do not recall it. I was best know for a unique 30 panel no one prior wrote about. Current setup is a Max-15 Eluktronics
